We did this last year and had a ton of fun and discussion. This post will be updated as new games are announced. Leave a comment for any rumors, news, or hopeful opponents for the 2024-2025 season.

I assume the rest of the games will be against cupcakes.

I expect two of those to be against HBCUs.

My preference is Howard and Hampton.

I would also like to see us play Yale and one other top-end Ivy League program (Princeton, Cornell, or Harvard).

Finally, I would like to see us play one of Fairfield or Quinnipiac.

.-.
Just a guess...

Maui1
Colorado/Dayton/Memphis

Maui2
Iowa St/Michigan St

Maui3
UNC/Auburn
I bet Dayton because we are the defending champs and they are arguably the weakest brand.

It is low-key fascinating that we may get multiple "what if" matchups against Auburn (projected S16 opponent), Iowa State (projected E8 opponent), and UNC (projected F4 opponent) in Maui.

Hurley mentioned on one of his podcast appearances (forget which one) that we'd have a big on-campus non-conference game this year, recognizing that this was a hole in the schedule last year. I wonder if he was alluding to the Baylor game or if there might be something else in the works.

UCONN home game in Bridgeport against Quinnipiac or Fairfield would be nice

Why. I wouldn't want any team I follow to play an Ivy opponent. They don't deserve it. Plus they are quickly becoming overrated has-been schools.

Ok, how do they sell season tickets? Can't be a home game

Then donors get pissed, and they're going to be asked to donate more than ever

They provide better competition than any non BE school in the region. You probably also pay them less for the buy game since they are so close and don't rely on the money to fund their operations.

colorado/dayton/memphis/MSU are all losing their first game to ISU/UNC/Auburn/UConn. I'd like our first game to be against MSU so we can avenge our loss from a couple years ago.

ISU is going to be the highest ranked team there and we'll probably be next highest so wouldnt meet them until the final. that means our second game would be against unc/auburn.

It sounds like he doesn't want UConn to be associated with them for off the court reasons.

Why don’t we take on Fried Calamari and his gold-card carrying members from Arkansas? Let’s see how his all-star team does against a true blue basketball team.

Good thing Brea transferred...otherwise Huskies would be on upset alert against Dayton...

UConn football would play the Manson Family if it brought them a major payday and they were a top 25 team. UConn basketball can be extremely selective in who they play.

Exactly correct.

Also have to laugh that the same people who were saying UConn football should cancel their game with Liberty will scoff at the idea of basketball not playing a game with, say, Columbia :D

Oh god.
Being newer here, this brings me to a relevant q? Does anyone have some sort of list of boneyarders that are just obviously bitter 247 newscyclers? Be nice if I could know in advance who not to engage. Gracias!

Only about 20% kidding.

This board does a really good job of keeping it about Basketball. The threads that go off the rails are more dogging players, smack talking recruits, or mentioning Kevin Ollie…(jk)

The off topic boards is where most old men with large lawns exist.
