Maybe following Kansas playbook whom we always have to face on the road. All or nothing unless these will be home and away.

Wasn't that the Duke/Syracuse playbook - never play a tough team on the road - neutral court or home only!

Interesting after Martelli Jr. complained that UConn wouldn't play them. Maybe Hurley figured we'll throw them a bone now that Martelli is gone. Bryant was very good last year. No idea what they look like for this coming season.

But Bryant University head coach Phil Martelli Jr. made some noise on Monday for suggesting the Huskies may not have wanted to play his team.

In answering a question about scheduling difficulties following Bryant’s win over Division III Springfield College, Martelli appeared to call out the Huskies.

“It’s hard. You have certain dates that you’re trying to fill. We were trying to fill this date, and there’s a team up the road that played tonight, who won a lot of games last year that we were trying to go to. They picked a different team in our league to play tonight,” Martelli told reporters, adding that he was talking about a “high-major” team.

32 game schedule coming in 2026-2027.

By going to a 32-game model, the extra game will ease restrictions and allow more opportunity for programs to schedule as needed, with the potential for more high-profile matchups in the regular season. What's more, the additional game should also enable more teams to bring back nonconference opportunities in January or February, something we've seen with Duke playing Illinois in February of this year and Duke facing Michigan in February 2026.

Love Hurley's response, LOL. Congrats to Martelli for getting the VCU job, well done. But he was in Delusionville thinking UConn was "ducking" Bryant, LMFAO.

How do people feel about getting forced to pay for an exhibition game? Do you think that should be voluntary and outside the season ticket package?

I would feel that way, but it's MSU, so it's tolerable.

It's Michigan State! Exhibition or not, I'd 1000x rather get a surprise of paying for this extra game against a premier program with a Hall of Fame coach than the 3-4 KenPom 250+ games we know are part of our season-ticket package. This is a very pleasant development.

Mixed feelings. It's a top program so it's good. I don't think this administration feels like they force us to do anything and we should be grateful to see another game. Glad it's at XL cause last year the XL Men's opponents were weak.

Our athletic department needs to get a bit creative for fund raising. All things considered, having to pay to attend an exhibition game against Mich St isn't the worst thing.

When have you ever heard exhibition games being voluntary purchases as part of season ticket packages. Lets be real here. Every org on earth charges you for preseason games.
 
To be fair to the University, they did disclose in the season ticket renewal/seat selection process that games could be added and if so they would charge for the added game(s). As others have noted, revenue generation is the top priority here and everywhere, and based on the high quality opponent, no problem with the added ticket.

So far it's just ask for more money at every point of contact. If you’re Catholic you know you get the extra collection during some of the masses. Maybe we'll get something after halftime. Certainly not spending on halftime shows or hotdog dinners. Go Huskies!
