UConn Men's 2025-2026 Basketball Schedule TV/Times Announced

NBC is relaunching NBC Sports Network and reportedly will be airing games that air "exclusively" on Peacock, but the new NBCSN will be in higher cable tiers so that it won't cannibalize it's Peacock subscribers. I still use cable, hopefully they throw the channel in the same tier that gets you all the conference sports channels

Putting your best games on streaming may boost short term revenues and league commissioner bonuses, but is terrible for long term revenues and brand exposure. Streaming is essentially dedicated to existing dedicated fans not potentially building new ones. No growth. And that has indirect impacts that some of the well intention Casual Fans here don’t consider. For example, merchandising which impact both school and NIL revenues. You are not reaching enough of people only with your aging and most dedicated fan base. No growth, which is bad business.
So this is Val Ackerman’s comfort zone leaving a mess for whoever her successor is as she did in the WNBA.

Then the league can return the NBC money.
You can barely see the wall in front of you. Good business people think next step and in Ackerman’s case - the next step is a less exposed brand nationally, which will mean recruiting and merchandising will take hits. Yet, she can’t see beyond her next bonus. Shame on the Big East Presidents for disincenting long term success.

Every single major conference and sports league has games on streaming. The NFL put a playoff game on Peacock.

And the Red Sox were on appletv for an important game or two as they were getting close to clinching a postseason spot. While streaming is growing, it's still not at a point where it's a net positive from a fans' accessibility standpoint.

Good example. The Red Sox clinched that day and no one watched it happen. The NFL playoff game was known as the “free trial game” but that won’t work for Big East basketball as it spans several months. I’ve never really looked at how well ND football does on peacock but they are a national brand so not quite apples to apples. The real measure is how, say, Michigan State or Purdue basketball games do on peacock.

Michigan State had 6 games on Peacock last year, Purdue had 8 games on Peacock last year. So it's a trend everywhere, not just for UConn/Big East
Yeah I guess we'll have to see all this plays out but I think one can bifurcate two separate issues

The fact that the clear trend is to move sporting events to streaming networks and the fact that that kind of sucks for most fans particularly those with lesser means

And

And whether it is advisable for the Big East to be perhaps a tad earlier to this trend than others. ( although that may not be the case)

I strongly doubt Chief is unaware of what is happening. It’s his tendency to utilize an emotional situation (in this case the access difficulty and added cost for fans) and incite anger for his personal agenda. Which is the removal of Val as BE commissioner.

What will be interesting for me is to observe how much traction he gets over this. Will disgruntled Boneyarders succumb to their emotions and join Chief in blaming Val for their negative viewing experience? Or will they read the facts that you and others are pointing out and understand this is a situation outside the control of conference commissioners?

What is happening in the world of media is obvious. ALL winning bidders for sports content are selling some of their winning content to other media entities. They make more money doing this. These other entities make more money as well because they know that enough fans will subscribe to offset their costs. Conferences are making more money as well albeit far less than the corporations.

All this profit comes at the expense of the fans viewing experience as well as team exposure. But that cost is universal and not at the expense of UConn or BE teams as those with agendas or emotional weakness prefer to make.

If the profits don’t happen the situation changes. That means fans have to stop watching and subscribing to the point that there are losses and not profits. I don’t think there is an individual in this community that doesn’t logically understand this. However logic is all too often overtaken by emotion. And this unfortunately can be exploited.

This is why young people with more limited incomes most of whom are not on here use vpn (to protect against malware) and illegal aggregator streaming sites to access games. They cannot afford this craziness. How do I know? I asked my son how he and his friends watch the games.

My son and his friends watched a lot of sports on illegal streams in college. He said everyone does.

Understandable for people in difficult situations to resort to illegal activity. But I imagine that many people do this who have adequate resources.

It’s entertaining watching how these illegal entities are being targeted. It’s another example of who gets the money. Governments and legitimate corporations versus illegal entities and consumers. When governments start penalizing consumers it will be interesting to see how many people choose to remain in an illegal activity. Sports “addiction” isn’t the same as drug addiction.

Might be too conspiracy theory but Ackerman was a known commodity. She gets het cash, tanks the league and UConn starts conference shopping.

Peacock games will not be watched, ha ... loving the weekend dates & times @ Villanova and St John's
Just exploring a little. Looks like if you get Peacock and aren't home to watch it trying to record is not like recording a regular cable channel. Another downside that people don't mention when they cut the cable cord.

You don't need to record, you can just fire up an on-demand replay from the app on any device once it's up (which if I recall is pretty quick).
