St John’s on peacock exclusive is a fireable offense
Selling games to a streaming only outlet entirely is a fireable offense. Like I don't subscribe to enough streaming platforms already, now UConn is forcing me to subscribe to another for four months

Wow, this is horrendous. I already had enough trouble watching the peacock game last year and now I have to come up with a way to do that 8 times? Ridiculous.

I realize they don't care about people like me who don't live in the US, but it's crazy that it's only getting harder to follow from abroad.

Home game vs St John's being relegated to a Wednesday night PBA game only available on Peacock is so gross. I don't have a single nice thing to say about Val Ackerman.
Not sure this is a Val Ackerman problem, though she is terrible. It seems to be an increasing trend that the best teams and games are being put on streaming services across all the conferences

Here are some peacock discounts if you happen to fall into these categories:

Teacher 3.99 month
Military 3.99 month
Medical & First Responder 3.99 month
Student 2.99 month
Young adult (18-24) 2.99 month

It's also free if you have a walmart+ or instacart + membership. You can get an instacart+ membership free for 3 months if you have certain chase credit cards. You have to remember to cancel or you'll be charged 99.99. Seems like a hassle.
I will probably pay for it through one of my kids to get the student discount.

Walmart+ allows you to select either Peacock Premium OR Paramount+ Essential, and you can switch every 90 days.

That was my first reaction . I get that streaming is the future ( or present) but putting a marquee game on a network without max exposure hurts the product

Then the league can return the NBC money.

NBCU paid a bunch of money to get some of the Big East inventory to drive subscriptions to Peacock.

They get second pick.

If you were trying to get people to sign up, would you use DePaul-Xavier or UConn-St. John’s?
I’m sure you’re right but did the conference ever disclose how much? The last media deal was barely a raise from the previous one. Then they threw in a bunch of stations like NBC/TNT (some espn+). Just kind of sounds like Val is getting played by the networks.

The math works out to be 7.2 million per school but I’m pretty certain the schools did not double their earnings. IIRC it was like 6.5 million to 7.2?
The previous contract was back loaded. So schools made less in the beginning and more in the end. But in total it was still a 12 year $500 million deal vs a 6 year $480 million deal.

There are also other revenue streams like tournament credits but those are the apples to apples numbers.
