UConn @ Las Vegas International (vs Western Mich Friday 1/4/19 @ 8p EST>Second Rd 1/5/19 @ 8p EST)

2018-19 tourneys: 1st Belfast, 2nd Las Vegas. Now, there's some sort of seriously dramatic urban diversity. Great opportunities for the young Huskies. Go UConn!

I was in Las Vegas this past week for a Knights game at T-Mobile, lots of promotion in and around the arena for the tournament. The locals have adopted Air Force as their "home team" for the tournament with Nellis AFB in the Vegas area. Should be a great event and they do a hell of a job putting on a show at the Knights games.

Game Notes

>>The Huskies have never skated against Western Michigan but the two schools do share a hockey bond. Former Husky Todd Krygier (1984-88) is in his third season as an assistant coach on head coach Andy Murray’s coaching staff. Krygier, a two-time All-American, is UConn’s all-time leading goal scorer (99) and is second all-time with 200 career points. He was UConn’s first alum to play in the NHL, playing in 543 games with the Hartford, Washington and Anaheim.

>> UConn has not faced Air Force since their days together in Atlantic Hockey. The two teams split their season series back in 2013-14, head coach Mike Cavanaugh’s first season at the helm. The Falcons lead the all-time series, 21-7-4.<<

>>The Huskies have never faced St. Lawrence.<<

No SOG in the first 15:30 is embarrassing. Come on. It's western Michigan not the red army.

Arizona State is ranked in year four and just beat BC.

Just saying.

Yea - big question is whether the Yale game was just a fluke. (We got out shot big time in that one too!)
It is not too early to question whether Cavanaugh is the right guy. 6 years in is plenty of time to get your act together. We go one step forward and two back a lot. I reiterate - he's a great guy and a better than average recruiter, but his teams have to start producing!

I've been saying Bruce Marshall did better as a coach. His teams were scrappy and disciplined.
