Uconn Kansas Home and Home Announced

That was the first game after Ricky Moore and Kirk King were suspended. We played Rip at point guard and he had 24 points and 8 assists. If I remember right, we jumped out to a big lead (maybe 22-7 or so) and crowd was going bonkers, but once Kansas fought back in it, we didn’t have enough big game moxie. Yet. A couple years later, we were well-moxied.
I recall being there. At the Civic Center. First game I remember as a kid. They hung with Kansas. Roy Williams in his heyday. Late 96/early 97 with Rip/Voskuhl/Freeman all as Freshman.

My comment about the last KU game was focused on UConn fans showing up, going out in Lawrence and making an impression. I think we knocked it out of the park. That's got to be part of what the Big XII is considering in whether UConn is a fit. Will they show up?

Still a question in Stillwater, Ames, Manhattan, Waco etc.
how hard was it to get a ticket?
i'm thinking early x-mas present

Think Rash had a good game didn’t he?

Any competitive recruit would look at the Big East schedule, and UConn’s loaded nonconference schedule and embrace it as they know on that night the bright lights will be shining. Great decision Coach!

It just keeps getting better and better

Wasn’t the game at Kansas on Super Bowl Sunday? I remember being so pumped for the day and we got absolutely annihilated.
I believe it was the off week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl.

We played them in a double header (women's team destroy the lady Jayhawks) at Kemper in KC. The return was two seasons later in Hartford and yes, that was the first game after Kirk and Ricky were suspended (Kirk for the season).

I guess with all the money I save by losing my prior season tickets, I can go to more away games?

It wasn't hard for me because my friend Jeff got the tickets. He said all his usual season ticket holder sources would not sell him tickets for that game. So he paid quite a bit. UConn had never played at AFH though, so I think this one might be slightly less sought after.

I will say that some other law school friends stayed at The Oread on campus and that was the right move. We met him there, UConn had an event in the bar and there was a lot of mingling before and after. Downtown Lawrence would be good as well.

No. It was a Saturday. I remember because of some setup I was helping with for a big event that night. Listened to it for a while then said I'll watch it at home tomorrow. Bad game.

I recall a Kansas H&H back in the 90s.... our home was at HCC or Gampel (forgot which) and we had Rip maybe was a freshman but held our own vs #1 Kansas for a half while the ladies demolished Kansas away.
In Hartford on CBS. Rip’s arrival on the national stage. There was a lot of positive vibes leaving the civic center after that game.

Stop AD Dave, I can only get so erect!

What a schedule!
I know what you mean. Looking at this non-conference schedule below gave me quite the afternoon wood especially with the BYU game being here in Boston where I live.

N-BYU (Nov 15, Boston)
H-Arizona (Nov 19)
N-Illinois (Nov 28, NYC)
At Kansas (Dec 2)
N-Florida (Dec 9, NYC)
H-Texas (Dec 12)

Question to anyone here: I know UConn has had some seasons with good non-conference schedules, which included MTEs, but have they had any season in their history that comes close to 2025-2026?

Why wouldn't this start at UConn since we just played them in Kansas?
Because UConn needed a road game after Illinois nixed the home and home and pushed to play at MSG.

Bill Self and Dan Hurley have not played scared when it comes to scheduling; it only makes sense the two of them found common ground to meet the next two seasons. For Hurley, he's built up one of the best and most challenging nonconference slates you'll find in college hoops for 2025-26. Connecticut also has BYU (No. 3), Florida (No. 6), Arizona (No. 11), Texas (No. 23) and Illinois (No. 24) before burrowing into a 20-game Big East campaign. It's one of the strongest, if not the strongest, non-con schedules in program history.

It's a bit of a bummer that this game is on a Tuesday. Will probably make travel a little harder for UConn fans.

hi - football fan mostly, but also casual bball fan. so, pardon my ignorance in advance:

this OOC schedule looks like an absolute death sentence, at first glance.
coming out of the tournament last year where we derailed our season, I wouldn't have thought an OOC would look like this.
Can someone help me understand the full benefits of setting this up?
besides high ratings, of course.
it is an exciting list of names, but it just seems like a lot of risk of the season going off the rails, before Big East play.

thoughts?

Great memories of being in a group of fans giving the business to Roy on his way into the tunnel for halftime.
