I've just looked at the rosters on the WNBA website

As of now (May, 26), there are 142 players credited on rosters
coming from 52 schools & 7 other countries.

9 schools have at least 5 alumnae representing them :

UCONN = 18
Notre Dame = 9
Baylor & South Carolina = 6
Maryland, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee & UCLA = 5

@UcMiami did a great job summarizing this in another thread that discussed the success or lack of it of Uconn alumns in the WNBA.

This use to be the way if this was 2011-2020 .....as of late the wealth has began to spread out.

Great

Great job. Thanks for looking all that up for us!

Uconn did not graduate anyone in 2021, but in 2022, if Christyn did not get injured, Uconn would probably have 3 new players in the WNBA, still quite impressive. Not many other schools even have 2?

What are the numbers for those graduating since 2017? Just curious. Think we will see more parity there.

I was more referencing how many have lasted since Stewie and Dolson , Stokes , Hayes class ? Seems like since those few came the rest cant seem to survive long. Well Gabby and Lou are hanging on by a thread so there's that nvm .

While I am also of the opinion that recent Uconn grads have not been as successful in the WNBA (depending on what your definition of success as others have pointed out to me in the other thread), Can you name anyone other than Sanya that has made it to the WNBA since the Stewie's class and is not currently playing in the WNBA? I was surprised myself when @UcMiami listed out the names since that class and there are 10 currently playing with at least half in the starting lineup of some teams, and while I had higher expectations for Lou, to say that Gabby and Lou (who are starters) are hanging by a thread is a ridiculous take.

I wonder how many other schools have more than 2 starters in the WNBA in the last 4-5 draft classes.

Lou is not a Starter and i stated they are hanging on by a thread because out of 4 years one has played for 4 teams and the other for 3 . That's not really stable in a league like the W.

Stewie, Kia, and Collier have been named all stars.
A healthy Kia would have made a difference in the final last year.
She would have made life miserable for the MVP.

SC has Allisha Gray , Aja Wilson , Tiffany Mitchell ,
ND has Mabrey , Lloyd , Arike , Skylar , Turner , Young , Shephard , Mcbride...
Just to name a few ....

Now that i think of it that Entire ND starting 5 from those back to back championship game years are all starters in the W and are flourishing Wow ...

Mabrey = Contender for MIP for 2nd year in a row
Arike = ASG MVP and WNBA scoring title holder
Young = Front Runner for MVP this season
Shepard = Contender for MIP this season being the 2nd go to in Minny
Turner = Top 2 DPOY the last 2 years and will get one really soon .

Muffett did something right finally LOL

I never said that there wasn't any team with more than 2 starters in the WNBA in the last 4-5 years, I was wondering and you brought up 2 examples with bad information (Mitchell drafted in 2016, Lloyd, Skylar, McBride, before the last 4-5 years). So you basically named 1 other team with more than 2 starters from the last 4-5 draft classes which makes the case that Uconn's success in the WNBA is still pretty good.

FWIW, I am very impressed with the success of Mabrey in the WNBA. If I have to name one player who has made the most out of what she has in the WNBA, I would say Mabrey.

Allisha Gray - the only reason I still watch and follow the Dallas Wings.
Allisha is probably the most underrated player in the league. I think because of her low-key manner she gets overlooked. Other than scoring the basketball, she is better than Arike at everything else. She is one of the best two-way players in the league.

“A few.” or all but one.
But one ? sorry your losing Me What player or which school is the One ? Check the line ups per WNBA .com and watch the games before you assume or conflict with a response that ridiculous like this lol

oh my bad i was off 1 year lol either way you got the point . LOL your original response below...

I admire Allisha Gray's game a lot. You're right, she's an absolutely stellar two-way player. However, I don't really compare her to Arike, a volume shooter who is there to go on one of her patented rolls. Plus, Gray is a wing and Arike very much an off-guard. I don't look at them in the same light and I don't think their coach does, either. Ditto for Marina Mabrey and Kayla Thornton.

How about, UConn is A path to the WNBA, not THE path to the WNBA.

Here's a question: how many of the UConn alums in the W wouldn't have ended up there if they went to a different school? No way to know for sure, but I think the majority of them would've ended up there regardless of which school they chose.

What?

Dawn sold A'ja on South Carolina being the path to the WNBA, which was incredible to me. Whether one looks at the WNBA rosters, All-Star Game rosters, All-WNBA teams, Team USA roster, or list of GOATs, it is dominated by Uconn. A'ja is very good, and so are Jewell, Arike, and now Jackie, plus Skylar, but neither N.D. nor S.C. has the depth that Uconn does.
