UConn - Iowa Postgame Thread

Great game and great season, but that last foul should have been a no-call. Horrible by the ref. Taking the game out of the hands of the players and inserting the ref into the game. Just awful.

So proud of our guys. They did what Geno feared they couldn't - come back from a deficit in the 4th quarter.

Such a shame and a dreadful call.
 
The refs couldn't let it play out to the last shot....that really ruined the game. Great play on both sides, considering we did it with 6 players on the floor, UConn showed they have a great game and a wonderful mindset. Incredible game for Nika guarding Clark.
 
Yeah not the ending we wanted but so proud of the entire team this year! They overcame so many obstacles and need to keep their heads held high! Big thanks for Liya and Nika for giving it their all!! I’m very excited about the group returning next year! Great experience for the freshies!

Congratulations to the team on a courageous and exciting season! Very proud of how they fought and nearly pulled out a win. The very best to the graduating seniors. Nika played a spectacular game. Aaliyah, Paige, KK, Ashlyn, and Ice gave it their all. Go UConn!
 
Bad call and the refs were good to Iowa throughout but what the heck was Geno doing there? You're down 1, not 3. Just put the ball in Paige's hands and have her create, don't complicate it with moving parts.

Great season playing through the most extreme adversity and making the final 4. South Carolina would whoop either of these teams so that should ease the pain a little.

I thought the UConn women would get blown out. They played well, even well enough to win. Congrats to them for a good game and tournament. Terrible call at the end that ruined what could have been an epic finish.
 
Refs handed the game to Iowa, period.

All of the missed baskets for UConn in the 1st quarter/1st half really came back to haunt them. They could have run up the score margin a lot more when Iowa was struggling to score. Could have put the game out of reach.

Just sucks. :(

I would rather we lost to Iowa than to give Dawn the chance to hand Geno his 2nd consecutive NC loss.

It's a shame that a ref decided to make that call on Aaliyah. 99.9% of refs would have swallowed their whistles in that situation.
 
Enough has been said about the last foul call.

I just have to say the thing that will stand out for me about this game is Nika. I've always respected her game, but with the exception of one really bad pass, she was impressive again here. The defense and the big shot... and I think she is hurting far more than she'll ever let on. Her legs looked like they were ready to just buckle a few different times. Tough as nails player went out with her boots on.

This is arguably the worst officiating call in the history of basketball. The most watched game in women’s hoops entire history. The two best players facing off in the last two possessions. One comes through. The other has the ball in her hands, down one, with the season on the line. And an official makes a phantom call, away from the ball, to end it. I’m speechless. This chance will never come again. The NCAA, for the ump-teenth time, has utterly pooped the bed.
 
What a game and what a season.. We had no business even being this far in the tournament, let alone a final 4. That call against Aalyah was horrible. Clark pushed off KK on that lat field goal Clark scored and they didn't even call it. The officials won this game, not Iowa, respectfully.
