Yesterday I took my kids to the Nashville Zoo. Walking in I saw a family of four decked out in UConn gear. Luckily I was wearing a UConn shirt myself. After a few words and some high 5s my kids and I walked into the zoo only to be greeted by another couple who saw my shirt and broke into "uconn uconn uconn!" My 4 year old was thrilled. So was THIS grown 4 year old.

What are some random places where you all have encountered Husky fans?

I’ve mentioned in the past on the hockey board that Ava Rinker works as a coach/instructor in the offseason at the rink where my kids play. But the first time seeing someone walking in front of me with a UConn hockey backpack and full on Husky gear was kinda funny bc we’re deep in Nova territory. She’s worked with both of my kids at various camps and clinics and is great with them.

All over Europe

My wife and I were in London last autumn and I was wearing my UCONN hoodie and we were walking past the Tower of London entrance, heading to the boat docks to take an Uber Boat and there was a few people who yelled out "UCONN!!!" and I of course had to respond with "HUSKIES!!!!". It was actually a few Londoners who had gone to UCONN as an exchange program back in the day. Really fun memory.

Walking out of church in Colorado Springs during football season and a guy was wearing a UConn shirt...told me all about his experiences as a student back in the 80s.

I saw a UConn hoodie on the Oregon Coast back in December. We live in WA and went down there for our anniversary. I started taking my jacket off and walking towards the guy, he must have thought I was nuts until he saw the UConn shirt I was wearing underneath.

I once had an uber driver in Portland tell me she played for the women during the time Geno arrived. She had lots of stories. Best uber ride ever.

I was in a grocery store in SF when I ran into a guy wearing a UConn sweater. I asked if he was a fan of MBB and we chopped it up. About twenty minutes later he rushed to find me in the pasta aisle, letting me know that Timberlake had committed to Kansas. Much respect, Safeway Steve.

I wear my UCONN gear to the gym regularly here in Temecula, California. I have various sweatshirts from the 2023 and 2024 championships. I always get lots of nods and people coming up to me telling me how great the teams have been and how much they admire Coach Geno and Coach Dan Hurley. Everyone knows UCONN is the Basketball Capitol of the USA.

We were in Disney the week of the 2024 National Championship game. The Tuesday after our victory, my son and I we proudly wearing UConn shirts and hats, and we saw a ton of other people in UConn stuff that day. I don’t remember if we chanted, but I’m pretty sure we acknowledged or talked to every other UConn fan there.

Just finished a cruise from Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the couple a few cabins down had their UConn gear to compete with mine.

Who's been to Santiago, Chile, twice in one year?

So not too far away but I was in a brewpub in NH, the lakes region. I had my 2000 UConn soccer championship hat on. So the bartender mentions he went to UConn. And the younger couple on my right also met while at UConn. And we were the only four there. I run into UConn grads a fair amount of time so not really crazy.

In NYC I saw a young kid about 11 wearing a UConn shirt so I gave him a shout out. His mother says, “See! I told you it’d be okay to wear that shirt”. That made me laugh.

Multi times all over Cali. San Diego, LA, San Francisco, Tahoe in CA and NV. I always acknowledge them...

Bucharest, but in the airport - me and another UConn wearing dude walking passed, paused, and we went for a beer. He was 2 years older but actually had friends in common.

As I entered the Highlands Kroger in Louisville last Saturday, I heard, "Go Huskies," from within a trio of young women who were exiting the store. It took me by surprise, because I was focused on getting ice cream, popsicles, and Valentine flowers for my granddaughter & daughter who were both home sick and had consented to my brief visit.

By the time it registered that they were taking to me, we'd passed each other, and I awkwardly blurted out, "Thank you." I'd forgotten that I was wearing a UCONN hoodie on a day with a noon Women's game and the evening game at Gampel.

Lots of people wear Louisville, Kentucky, and Indiana gear in Kentuckiana. The only time I've ever seen UCONN was in the YUM! Center concourse three years ago at the Creighton - SDSU Elite 8 game. Locals are widely friendly & respectful, and generally knowledgeable about UConn basketball.

@uconnblueinky, have you had a positive experience as well?
