Geeking and tweaking againMaybe I'm a sadist or whatever, but I'm always curious how our transfers and near recruits are doing. So I thought, maybe just for myself, I'd put them all in one place. I'm sure I'm forgetting some...
Transfers
Ahmad Nowell
Through 4 games, he's getting 13/mpg and averaging 5.5. Shooting it very poorly.
Aidan Mahaney
Averaging 15 and 4 in 33mpg through four games. Shooting it extremely well.
Isaiah Abraham
Averaging 4 and 3 in 16mpg as a starter for GTown. Thought he'd have more of an impact tbh.
Yousouff Singare
Averaging 3 and 2 in 10mpg.

the Spencer gene is real lol
These 2 brothers could be in league for years to come…
Cam is a killa, and he is writing his own next contract..
Also it seems like Newton and Spencer never missed on a lob opportunity/pass, I took it for granted how easy they made it look and realized that last season. Hell, I watch Blazers games and I shake my head at how often the Blazers guards(outside of Avdija) don't see DC for the lob when it's right there.College hoops might never see a backcourt like Newton and Spencer again. Newton had 67 assists and 15 turnovers in the postseason (4.5 to 1), Spencer had 40 and 8 (5 to 1). They were like a Mensa society out there scoring 1600 on their SATs with no mistakes.
Yeah. I watched some of the full games of 2023-24 after the Florida loss to sort of drown my sorrows. I appreciated Newton in real time during that run … but not enough after watching those games again. He was a maestro running things - if the lob was there to Clingan, Johnson (or Castle on the baseline), he found it. Or the kickout at the right time to Cam or AK. Lots of hockey assists too - setting up the guy to make the pass. Also it seems like Newton and Spencer never missed on a lob opportunity/pass, I took it for granted how easy they made it look and realized that last season. All last season I wondered how many points Samson would have scored had he played with Newton and Spencer. Also it seems like Newton and Spencer never missed on a lob opportunity/pass, I took it for granted how easy they made it look and realized that last season. At the time, I recall people downplaying the significance of T-New returning for his senior season. Turned out to be huge.Yeah. The ride was a little more bumpy his first go round - but he smoothed it all out in year two.
You do realize that the Blazers' starting PG, backup PG, and backup's backup are all injured, yes? Also it seems like Newton and Spencer never missed on a lob opportunity/pass, I took it for granted how easy they made it look and realized that last season. it's funny that you think I don't know this when I've literally been making the same comment about not seeing DC on lobs since last seasonYou do realize that the Blazers' starting PG, backup PG, and backup's backup are all injured, yes?
Spurs avoid a really bad L in New Orleans on a Harper driving bucket with 9 seconds left. Derik Queen with a 33-10-10 triple double, but missed the game winner.
A bit of a frustrating game for Castle who couldn’t quite finish a bunch of good shots in the paint that he had been making pre-injury - but had 18-5-5 on an off night (5-15), with a highlight reel putback dunk in the third. Castle wasn’t in the closing lineup (Fox and Harper closed, along with Champagnie, Barnes and Kornet), but it was his first game back so more about minutes restrictions/rust than anything else.
Hawkins had a bad 4-minute stint with a turnover, an air ball, and bad body language and got a really quick hook. He’s probably hanging on by a thread and can’t really afford to waste many shifts.
The bad body language most concerning. Maybe he’s pressing knowing he’s hanging on.Spurs avoid a really bad L in New Orleans on a Harper driving bucket with 9 seconds left. Derik Queen with a 33-10-10 triple double, but missed the game winner.
