One positive tonight....It was another excellent night for the Area 51 duo in San Antonio. Steph scored 23 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 block on a 45% field goal percentage night. Continuing to shine and force his way into the ROTY conversation.

There is some positive news from yesterday!

NBA
Castle: 23 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 45% FG and 3-8 (37.5%) from three
Andre: 6 points (3-4 FG), 9 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block

G League
Newton: 24 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals
Cam: 16 points, 6 rebounds. On the same team as his good friend Armando Bacot

As important, spurs and bucks 9-0 in last nine and .500+ for season now with our guys starting. Winning will keep them starting. Really happy for Ajax.

OKAY TYRESE!!! I can’t explain how happy it made me to see him flexing and screaming “AND1” again. With Cam Thomas injured for a few weeks, plenty of wing minutes available for him

Other NBA performances last night -
  • Castle: 10 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, but 3-10 shooting (1-4 from three)
  • Hawkins: 6 points and 3 rebounds on 2-9 (2-6 from three)
  • Drummond: 6 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals
G league -
  • Bouknight: 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2-7 FG

Castle got cooked on defense for the 2nd game in a row. Knecht outplayed him for sure.

“Cooked” by who? Can’t mean Knecht, I don’t actually remember him scoring on him.. Anyways George scored a couple on him in the first leg of the back to back, but did most damage on others in his L. Castle’s not gonna pitch shut outs in the nba..

I watched 12-minute highlights on YouTube and Castle had one basket scored on him in that package - a little bit of a tough leaner in the paint from Reeves. He could have defended it a little better, but he got back in the play after being screened and made it a little bit of a tough 2.

Reeves seemed to be his primary assignment on most possessions, and he was 5-11 for 13 points, but most of his baskets in the highlights were with Castle out, including a buzzer beater at the half when Castle was sitting with three fouls.

The highlights are incomplete of course - he could have been burned on plays that ended in fouls. But there wasn’t a bad defensive play in there, and he made some good reads/passes at the other end (7 assists, 2 TO).

Busy day today

NBA - Hawkins, Tyrese, Clingan (if not still injured). Pacers and Grizzlies play too but not sure if Newton/Cam are with the NBA teams or G League teams right now

G League - Bouknight, Polley, Calcaterra

Always a favorite player when he was on those teams. He just need to have a more consistent outside shot to with being a top notch athlete. Great to see him succeed.

Clingan was announced to be out at least 2 weeks with his knee injury. Hopefully they're just being precautionary and it isn't anything that will linger.

Had a grade 1 mcl in july
Still not 100 pc
Hard to believe he will be back after two weeks of the great 2
I think 4 to 6 weeks is the minimum

Wow I gave up looking at Nets box scores bc he hadn’t been getting much PT

Just turned the Nets/Orlando game on and opened the box. Appears Martin started, 0-1 today so far (again in the first).

Hawkins was out with back soreness (he needs to let that heal because it's obviously hurting his shot), and Spencer appears to be with the G-League as neither played in their game.

Solid game for Martin in his first start (I believe). 8 points on 3/6, 2/4 from three. 2 rebounds, 1 assist in 24 minutes. He plays good defense but rarely does much on offense besides stand in the corner as an outlet. Right now he is a pretty classic 3D player.

Yes, I believe it was his first NBA start. Good to see.
