UConn in the NBA Nov 2025

His only chance is if a functional franchise figures out a way to reinvent him some. That team is a career kill.
If Mullins leaves Hawkins still has two years of eligibility.......what better place to be reinvented?
Get his mojo back, get another ring, get picked by the Celtics.

Went to the C’s Pelicans game on Monday. What a crappy product, they jacked up 89 3s, lots of bricks.
Hawk is totally lost, a nice 0 fer in a game with no D.
When he was on the court, we left early 4th qtr, just a non factor. I don’t even think his teammates knew he was playing.
Can’t imagine he’s long for New Orleans or NOLA long for the league.
Announced crowd of 16k, I would be surprised, if there was 8k. Upper deck sections with 0-10 fans. Of course, ZW did not play.

Hawk was never consistent to his talent level with us, the thing is in professional sports as soon as you struggle teams are looking to replace you. You need to hit on your chance.

I believe the term is "you need to take your shot"... per Wesleyan grad Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Not a very fun update for yesterdays games

AJax: DNP-CD
Liam: 0-3 in 9 minutes, 0 points and 2 TO

Busy day today. Pelicans (Hawkins), 76ers (Drunmond), Nets (Tyrese), Grizzlies (Cam), Hornets (Liam), Spurs (Castle) play

Not sure AJX is even worth following much anymore. He's a standard DNP to 1-2 minutes.
He played well but then there was the coaching change. It seems like unless you are a potential superstar (like Castle or Clingan) so much is if the coach likes you or not / style of play.

Hawkins started off with such promise and then when injured player came back, steadily downhill. I would chalk it up for him to wrong team / wrong coach / he needs a change. I think he’s got the skills to pay the bills as they say.

I am not NBA fan.. could care less except to see how our former players are doing.

The Pelicans are such a weird situation. They have a super talented team which makes it hard for Hawkins to find minutes. Yet they are so bad.

Like there’s plenty of other teams that can use his talent in their lineups who lack guard depth. Like Dallas or even a Miami.

He could probably thrive in Miami’s system under Spo in that offense and culture.

Hopefully after New Orleans one of these teams take a flyer on him who need more talent at guard and he finds a second life for his career.

NO doesn’t just lose they get drilled. 0-6 and -18+ margin average. And yet Hawk is only getting a few minutes off bench. It’s been an ugly run. 6 uneventful minutes tonight in another big loss. His best bet really is to get out of dodge, any way he can. If he still has any NBA value. Really ugly night for UConn products.

Castle put up some strong numbers (26-7-5 on 10-16 shooting), but Spurs were drilled. Wemby had a weird night, playing like the Monstars stole his skills.

Steph ended with 5 assists and 2 turnovers. One TO was the first play of the game when it looked like the ball slipped or something. Other than that he continued to show improved ball control. The assist total is also a bit lower than he deserved - nobody was hitting shots (Spurs were 10-40 from 3 - felt like half were off his passes).

Stat sheet also isn’t going to look like it, but Castle did a pretty good job defensively on Booker tonight, who ended with 28 and 13 on 10-15 shooting. I feel like Booker was 2-6 against him, all of which were contested. The ones he made were kinda bad shots (18 foot fadeaways) where you tip your cap. Things got testy/chirpy at times and he got a tech. But he didn’t back down - he was just way behind on the scoreboard.

Harper also went down with a calf injury - if he misses some time, the Fox return will be easier to manage at first.

Jordan really does need to get out the hell out of New Orleans. I am praying to the Basketball Gods to get him to another NBA team that will be more conducive to him being productive. The thing I am concerned with is that he is supposed to be a shooter, but he isn't shooting well and he really doesn't provide anything else, at least not for New Orleans.

Castle 26 points on 10-16 (2-5 3P, 4-4 FT), 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals. Sheeeesh

Drummond 5 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, 2-4 shooting

Tyrese started! But struggled, scoreless on 0-6 (4 assists, 2 rebounds)

Cam also started! But also struggled, 4 points on 1-7 (4 rebounds, 4 assists)

Liam had 9 minutes off the bench, took and made 1 shot (a three) for 3 points

Hawkins had 6 garbage time minutes in a 30 point blowout. Took and missed a three

Their coach is likely to be fired any hour now so if the assistant that’s going to be the interim coach likes Hawkins, he will probably get another chance in the rotation this season

I want it to work out for Liam - I really do.

But I didn’t entirely agree w/ his decision to leave early. He didn’t seem ready. I thought that he could be a bit like AK and stay a bit, collect some serious NIL $ and then go when he was ready.

Again, hope it all works out for him.

Kind of felt like his destiny was pre-planned. Family attended everything from Texas, if he was staying longer likely would have chosen differently.

I'd love for it to work out for him too, but like I think you're suggesting, just not sure I see it in his game. Thank god he didn't slip to the second round.

Super talented? Zion is their statistical leader in almost every category and he can only play half the games because he is so out of shape and injury prone. After that meh

Their guard depth is currently Jeremiah Fears, Jordan Poole, Trey Murphy, and Jose Alvarado.

They all do what Hawkins can do (shoot) and other things as well. In Jose’s case he’s their defensive specialist. This is before Murray gets back.

It’s a very loaded backcourt talent wise they just don’t play well together.

Meanwhile Miami is starting journeyman Pelle Larson and going 9 deep because they don’t have enough playable guys until Herro gets back. There’s all the opportunity in the world there.

There’s more situations like that where in other situations too, Miami was just the first to come to mind.

Larson has been in the league like 3 years and been with Miami the whole time, looking promising. How is that a journeyman?

great point and agree!

I didn’t know who he was so I just went to journeyman, that’s my fault. Regardless I don’t think he’s the same kind of roadblock locked into the rotation guy like everyone else on the Pelicans are.

It appears that League Pass deals went out the window with the new media deal. Last year I got the first week free, then 3 more months with a 5 dollar bet.
