UConn in the NBA - March version

Castle ends with 23-7-8 and a key late three to help put it away. Shot 9-19 … would have been .500, but Wemby gave him a 911 pass at the end of the shot clock in the last minute.

Clingan ended up 14 and 11 as he rested most of the second half.

Spencer had 12 points and 7 assists with one TO in only 16 minutes. His A:TO continues to be pretty ridiculous. It’s 4.2 for the season, but he’s at 74 assists and 8 turnovers in his last 14 games (just over 9:1). You’d think he would be a little vulnerable being pressured into turnovers, particularly in the paint when he can’t elevate over people, but he just never gets himself into trouble.

The elusive 30 ball still awaits DC, only played 25 minutes but he also missed some easy ones down low that would have got it for him. Finishes with 28pts/13rebs/2blks

Probably would have got it if he didn't tweak his ankle early in the fourth. Not sure how serious the injury was but I don't think he came back in (I turned it off with a few minutes to go).

Donovan is lighting up the Timberwolves in the first half with 17/11/3 and 2 blocks.

edit: his counting stats keep climbing month over month since he has entered the NBA (aside from one month when he was injured)

DC took off on one foot from the dotted line and threw it down, I didn't know he had that in him

Averaging a double double this year which is nothing to scoff at for a 2nd year center. Seems to be getting stronger, and his touch at the 3 point line is really starting to develop.

The Game Theory podcast did an episode on under the radar players. Not only did they lead off with Clingan, but Sam Vecenie said the entire inspiration for the episode was an excuse to talk about him... They are so high on him.
Even so, I thought Sam's guest was still selling DC a bit short. For example, his passing for a center is at an elite level already.

I caught the first half of this game. That clip was the Portland guys. The Denver announcers were comical. After he makes his second three, the play-by-play guy says "he's a fair shooter" with the analyst quick to add "last game Clingan made his first two, THEN MISSED HIS NEXT FIVE!" DC makes another, then a bit late he puts up # 4 and while the ball was in the air the guy says "Clingan...is he ever going to miss?" Swish!
