Insane is the appropriate description. I mean his entire head was above the rim. I saw Oubre dunk as I was watching the Knicks game. Not sure how that one was better. This one is right up there with the all time dunks David Thompsonesque with a little Carter and Wilkins thrown in. It was at that level.

Insane. Years ago i saw a David Thompson NC State game where he took a bad fall and got hurt. He literally had his toe catch a guy’s shoulder in mid-air. I thought that was crazy I think AJax was even higher.

The fact that it was ONLY #7 is an embarrassment. I know I'm partial because I'm a diehard Husky supporter but taking partisianship out of the equation, that is a mindblowingly insane display of athleticism.

The NBA's official top plays of the day had it at #2, and to tell you the truth, #1 wasn't anywhere near as impressive as Ajax's.

I remember thinking when I heard that his vertical was measured at 39.5", "That's It?" but that is just measured from a stand still. I've been watching basketball for 50+ years and I don't know if I have ever seen anyone get up as high as him without a trampoline.

When Thompson was an undergrad, got a challenge from a guy on the track team. Thompson, who had never done track, came out and broke the NC State triple jump record! Insane athleticism and hops.

A standing vertical jump is a lot different than a running start from the 3 point line blast off.

These numbers don’t make sense to me, unless Andre skipped the max vertical and only his standiing very was reported. According to this 2023 nba combine report, Andre was only fifth in max vert at 39.5” - 2023 NBA draft combine: The top measurements, including wingspans, from Day 1
