That's the whole point, teams will be more judicious in shooting threes and they will look to score more in the paint and midrange throughout the game. It doesn't change the whole game at all, it would help bring balance back to the game.

One small problem with this statement - it isn't true.

New rules like the pitch clock have led to a an increase in MLB's popularity after years of decline. Attendance and TV viewership are both up significantly and it's now drawing a younger audience than it has in years.

It would change the whole game. Teams don’t have to guard past 24 feet at all after the limit is reached. Paint will get gunked up, no room to drive. Drive and kicks to open up shooting lanes will be pointless. There has to be a dozen better ways to go about it than that rule lol.

This past season was the best product MLB has had in a very long time. I'm not a big fan of the ghost runner in extras but the other changes were great for the game. Nobody wants to sit around for 4 hours watching batters take timeout every pitch to scratch their balls and pitchers to throw over to first base a million times.

Nope, I want balance in the NBA game. Teams shooting nearly 40 threes per game is not interesting and fans are tuning out.

You thinking teams shooting closer to 30 threes per game instead of 38 per game would change the whole game and turn it into 78-71 wrestling matches is comically stupid.

This past season was the best product MLB has had in a very long time. I'm not a big fan of the ghost runner in extras but the other changes were great for the game. Nobody wants to sit around for 4 hours watching batters take timeout every pitch to scratch their balls and pitchers to throw over to first base a million times.

The pitch count clock I'm good with as long as the pitch has some leeway meaning if he's a second or too slow and he's in rhythm just let it go the way the minors handle it is perfect. Eliminating how many times a guy throws over is dumb.

Analytics have gotten in the way, and too much of an overreaction on pitch count, if a guy is throwing a no hitter leave him alone and let him pitch. Babying pitchers hasn't prevented injuries, not that you shouldn't pull a guy or rest him when the situation calls upon it. I think it's pathetic that there is now honor in a starter going 4-5 innings that's not a quality start to me.

The NFL has added more rules than any sport out there and it’s only helped its popularity. I don’t think adding rules is an issue.

I do think these longer more enduring sports need to find a way to add urgency to regular season games as a number one priority. That will change the sport. Meaningless regular season games are what kills. The NBA has tried it with this silly tournament which feels like a gimmick, it needs to he done more organically.

My idea has been to chop up seasons into quadrants where each winner gets a post season playoff spot and can strategize around it. Then full season records seed teams.

I should've clarified I meant to say where baseball went to with where analytics took the sport. Yes the ratings have increased as things have been cleaned up, it's a pretty low bar.

Capping the number of threes is such a dumb idea. Not coming after you, that just makes 0 sense.

Where I agree that too many three point shots make the game resemble high school JV, capping the number isn't a good solution. Move the line back, perhaps so far it eliminates the corner shot, but capping them adds complexity where it isn't needed.

Ratings can be twisted in many ways, the NBA finals did an 11.3 which was down 3-% from the year before, sure the NBA is trending down, but still well above other sports, the MLB World Series did 7.0 which was slightly higher than the year before. The NBA still has more viewership than MLB despite the rule changes.
