I wish the Hornets front office wasnt so garbage. Nic Batum makes me suicidal as a Hornets fan.Head bang

They have worse problems than batum.

Small sample size alert.

Through 3 games Kemba is averaging 35 ppg. while shooting 50% from 3 on 13 attempts per game, resulting in the most 3 pointers made in history by a player through 3 games (19). Quite the testament to hard work because we all know Kemba was not a natural shooter.

You sure? 24 million in cap is a pretty big problem for a team thats already screwed financially

Look at how much they are wasting on role players and not drafting bpa in the draft the last 2 years.

Imagine a backcourt with Mitchell and Kemba and using zhaire smith as your future 3.

Dump the trash and build around that.

At least batum is a really good player when healthy. That’s just some bad luck on that end

Really good player when healthy? He averaged 12 ppg last year and has had a worse start this year. Im perfectly fine with Malik Monk with last years draft as he averaged over 20 for almost the last month of the season last year. I dont think drafting is their big problem Miles Bridges has looked pretty solid so far too. The only thing thats preventing them from getting the players they need to consistantly make the playoffs is the 24 mil they pay to Batum, 14 mil to Williams, and 13 mil to MKG. All horrible contracts that really, should never been offered.

I’m more concerned for both of the latter, and the fact that they didn’t get market rate for eating an extra year of biyombo than batum.

Especially since they used the money to pay Parker 4x the cost of signing bazz.

But to be fair I may also be unfairly beating them up for passing on Drummond in 2012 to set this domino in motion

True, true. James Borrego seems to have them playing with more energy and on the right path. Hopefully by the trade deadline theyll move at least one of the bad contracts, and maybe make a playoff push.

Mitchell over Monk is revisionist history, at the time Monk was the better prospect. And was shocking that he even fell to the Hornets

Not true. Mitchell was skyrocketing by the time the draft came.

Monk was more or less pegged for Charlotte for a long time. Many expected Mitchell to crash the top 10.

And, it’s not a revisionist call from me, I had Mitchell rated over fox.

No idea on you having Mitchell higher so if you did then I can't argue that.

But here's the last mocks from the day of the draft.

2017 Mock Draft | NBADraft.net - Monk 9 and Mitchell 14

2017 NBA Mock Draft: Projecting all 60 picks - Monk 8 and Mitchell 11

2017 NBA Mock Draft: Final 2-Round Predictions - Monk 10 and Mitchell 12

NBA Mock Draft 2017: Back to the future with Lonzo to Lakers and Tatum to Celtics - Monk 8 and Mitchell 12

Ranking these 10 players' hot starts by sustainability

1. KEMBA WALKER, CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Stats: 3 GP, 35.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.0 spg on 48.7/50.0/76.5

Thus far this season, Kemba Walker has taken his game from All-Star level to fringe MVP candidate. Through the first week of the league year, the Charlotte Hornets guard is leading the league in scoring, both in average and total points. Sure, he’s shooting a lot (25.3 FGA nightly), but the shots aren’t going down at some astronomical rate; his shooting splits actually seem quite sustainable, which is a scary thought for opponents.

Until he tires out, we expect to see Walker, the pull-up jumper and crossover specialist, continue to put up absurd scoring marks, and help lead Charlotte back to the postseason for the first time in two years.

Looks like Shabazz is finally cleared to play Wednesday against the Cavs. Should be interesting. Rooting hard for the kid.

Had a decent stat line tonight.

I came here to start a new thread on this but searched before I did. I was driving home from Jersey City, NJ tonight and went from Fat Boy Francesa to Steve Sommers without blinking or absorbing anything. It wasn't until I was halfway across the Tappan Zee before I realized the Nets pregame was on and I heard Bazz's name. Not sure who the radio guys are but they had maybe a 4-5 minute talk about Shabazz playing tonight right at the beginning of the broadcast. Some bits I remember: talked about coming back from injury, being much improved before the injury and someone who can really help the Nets create offense. They then talked about a few more players before one brought up that Shabazz is {paraphrasing} "just the type of guy who has it....he's a winner. He won 2 championships in college. Two! One in twenty eleven and one in 2014."

Then 30 seconds of stuff I forget before one of the two radio guys mentions his rings came from The University of Connecticut.

Wish I could remember more but at that point I was pretty deep in self doubt/guilt about not caving in to my inner voice and taking the extra 30 minutes to stop at the White Castle in Nyack.

I watched part of the game, and got to see him on the court a couple times. He looked totally comfortable out there. Made two threes and had two dimes while I was watching.

15 really good minutes for Shabazz tonight. 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting, 3-for-6 from 3, 2 reb 1 assist 1 steal 0 turnovers. Took a couple ill-advised shots but that's kind of his role – they seem to be asking him to be Lou Williams.

This Nets team isn't super talented but they're well-coached and a lot of fun. I hope Shabazz can carve out a long-term role with them, because I think their future is bright.

A Lou Williams role sounds deliciously fun for Bazz.
