Overanalyzing a bit. Michigan St. was mentioned first because it's AD was the one who apparently put the event together. Florida and Ohio St were listed first in the second paragraph as there are two teams from each major conference and Kentucky and Mich St. were mentioned in the previous paragraph. All other teams were listed with their conference mates (UConn and G'town, Texas and OK, Stanford and Oregon and then the mid-majors).

Would Syracuse have been selected over G'town if they didn't jump to the ACC?
