This must be Russell's half-dozenth time coming out for a multi-inning save. I understand that we don't have a very deep bullpen, and as such have to really ride our few semi-consistent guys, but is there a chance all of this duty is tiring him out? It's not even a save situation, why not give Holmes a shot?

I believe Holmes had a big hiccup with his control his last time out, so no one in the bullpen seems immune.
 
If a bullpen arm has a bad outing Penders shuts them down. PJ pitched great last week. Holmes has been good nearly every appearance. Nepiarsky is MIA despite him being one of the most consistent arms. None of them pitched this week. Penders has a bad habit of only using 3-4 guys out of the pen. He did this last year too.
 
Love that we scored 5+ runs twice this weekend vs. excellent pitching, albeit shoddy defense.

Next week will make or break our season.

This past weekend Moriarty took some big steps in securing the full time 2B job. It's getting to be his job to lose, especially if he continues to chip in the odd extra base hit. Also have to wonder if Penders has seen enough of Chris Winkel's bat for this season, and will start playing Troy Stefanski more in his place. Winkel seemed to be making some progress a few weeks ago, but his bat seems to have shorted out again. It's probably a little late in the season to think that Kenny Bergmann will get another real chance to show off the bat that the coaching staff was raving about back in February and March.

UConn has used him as a punching bag for 2 years in a row. Beating Cougar High just got more difficult.

Between Romero's idiocy and the UH coach banishing their beat writer, UH seems like a dumpster fire right now.
