OT: UConn history question (what was that restaurant???)

I was on campus this weekend and when I drove by Hops 44 and Toast l vaguely remember a restaurant that used to be on that corner (at least as long as I can remember back to my earliest uconn memories in the 90s)
When I was a student there 97-01 we would never go because it always seemed like a senior citizen 3pm early bird special type place. Am I right on the location? Did this place exist at all?

Across the street where the Cumberland Farms is now was a restaurant called Cathy John’s which fits that description. Seemed to be one of the last restaurants in CT to allow smoking inside, and had the worst ventilation ever, and this little tchotchke shop up front. It was kind of charming, but I also was going there when I was a kid.

Kathy John's was across the street, where the Cumberland Farms is now. The place you are referring to started with a Z, but the full name escapes me.

Was definitely there in the 90s and early 2000s. By the looks of the place I would put it's inception before the 90s but I can't be sure.

Before Zenny’s it was the office for a trailer park. Behind it there was a small trailer park in the early 70s

True story: My brother-in-law's dad owned Zenny's. The dad was from Greece; his first name was Xenophon -- and his nickname was Zenny.

Kathy John's was a welcoming restaurant for UConn student "old timers" in the early 1970s. I was a 26 year-old married veteran who enjoyed its laid-back family atmosphere with my wife. I wish it were still there every time I visit Storrs.

Early 70s there was not a lot of Restaurants. Huskies, Student Union snack bar, Pizza House, Kathy John’s, Rapps, Lou’s in Eagleville, Chucks, Altneveigh, Eaton Farmis which would later become a Chinese Restaurant run by the Wongs, Mid 70s brought Subway, Hardee’s, Paul’s Pizza and Rosales.

My husband owned Cup o Sun in the 1980's. It was a money maker before UConn had weekend meal plans.
