UConn Highlights: Johnnie Selvie - Senior Season (2001-2002)

This is BEAUTIFUL. Now the older guys that mention Selvie have a video of his greatness. He was a good player, clean up man, high energy guy. I’m gonna ignore the 7-10 times I think he stepped on the baseline in this video.
One of my favorites.

One of my favorites.
He was a Flintstone (from Flint MI) who came to UConn when the Flintstone pipeline was to Michigan State.

He was so good at shooting seams and gaps on the defense to get to the rim for offensive rebounds and to receive dump off passes from penetrating guards.
Really knew how to work from the westside and use the rim.

Johnnie is a good dude, definitely has his issues.

I coached him in a semi-pro league a while back, was totally respectful and coachable.

I ran a plan called Wheel, he was all friggin' excited because Calhoun used to run it. That basically got me "in" haha, he loved me after that.

I used to call him Johnnie-on-the-spot as he seemed to always know where to be on the court. Hustle and Muscle. One of my favorite Huskies.

Well, there was the whole lack of awareness and stepping on the baseline thing he had going. But, yes, he had a nose for the ball and the rim.

Always saw Selvie around at UConn and ECSU hangouts. Seemed like a chill guy.
