Top 5th, Dalena has a leadoff single. He is thrown out on the bases on a single by Shpur. Shpur is thrown out trying steal 2B to end the inning (first time this season he is thrown out trying to steal a base). 2-1 Georgetown.

Bottom 5th, Cooke gives up a 2 out walk and a hit by pitch. An RBI double drives in 2 runs. 4-1 Georgetown.

That's what you're afraid of with Cooke. 2 quick outs and a lapse.

2 more outs on the base paths. Stealing bases hasn't been one of our strengths.

Before this game the UConn offense had stolen 46 bases in 67 stolen base attempts. That is not a bad percentage at all.

Of course this does not count other base runners being thrown out on the bases.

Top 6th, UConn offense has a scoreless inning. 4-1 Georgetown.

Chris Jones says Morton was thrown out of the game after striking out that inning. Simmons takes over in LF.

Jack Sullivan takes the mound to start the bottom of the 6th,

Bottom 6th, Sullivan retires the first 2 batters on a strikeout and a ground out, then comes out of the game. Cinnella takes the mound, and gets an out to end the inning. 4-1 Georgetown.

Top 7th, with 1 out the UConn offense loads the bases. Shpur drives in 2 runs with a 1 out double. 4-3 Georgetown. With 1 out Tammaro is hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Broadhurst follows with a RBI single driving in 2 runs. 5-4 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

Love the fight. All due respect to G’Town and what that coach has done - but there should be zero intimidation factor playing them on the road. Off campus field, no crowd to speak of, no history of winning baseball.

Bottom 7th, after a leadoff single, Cinnella picks off the runner for the 1st out. Georgetown loads the bases with 1 out. This is followed by a single that brings in 2 runs, 6-5 Georgetown. Cinnella comes out of the game. Carrea takes the mound.

Georgetown loads the bases with 2 out on a bunt single. Carrea gets out of the inning with no more runs coming in. 6-5 Georgetown.

How disappointing that after you battled back to take the lead, you have a veteran pitcher come in and not be able to throw strikes and give them free bases and now trailing again.

Top 8th, with 2 runners on base, Shpur with a 2 out RBI single driving in a run to tie the game at 6.

Suspect we will be seeing Shpur in the leadoff spot again in future games.

Quinn takes the mound in the bottom of the 8th.

Never in doubt

Competitive year in the BE. These teams seem closely matched. We’re still UConn though. Should be fun.

Penders’ teams don’t quit. Never count the Huskies out.

RPI incredibly up to 43 on Warren Nolan. Let’s take the series tomorrow.

Just enough offense and just enough pitching, but in each case enough to get it done.

Just looked up the RPI as well. Road wins against solid teams are pretty valuable in dragging up the RPI. It would be big for UConn to take this series.
