>>UConn’s new assistant coaching staff will have a total salary of nearly $2 million, nearly $250,000 more than last season’s staff.

The Huskies will pay defensive and offensive coordinators Anthony Poindexter and Mike Cummings $292,000. The coaching staff is as follows with Head coach Bob Diaco scheduled to make $1.5 million this year.

Mike Cummings-$292,000
Anthony Poindexter-$292,000
Don Patterson-$242,000
Vincent Brown-$242,000
Wayne Lineburg-$192,000
Ernest T. Jones-$192,000
Mike Foley-$192,000
Kevin Wolthausen-$192,000
Jeff Reardon-$107,000

Assistant pool has been an issue around UConn for a several years going back to Randy Edsall. Director of Athletics Warde Manuel delivered on his promise to up the pool and has said UConn will be towards the top I the American in paying assistant coaches.<<

... and this doesn't include the non-coaching Director of Football Operations position or the Director of Player Personnel position (new).

Remember Pat Narduzzi?? Didn't he say he was withdrawing from, or as was originally reported "turning down", UConn because assistants pay levels were too low. Obviously Warde shared with him what the new levels were going to be. As Medic points out, the $2 million figure doesn't include the DFO, nor the DPP figures yet. MSU's total pool stands at $2.4 million, not all that much different, though there were discussions that the pool was going to be raised, post Rose Bowl. Even so, the levels that UConn will be at when the two additional positions are figured in, will place it in the top 20 of all BCS programs, per the most recent information*. Now if you're a first time HC, having a staff earning top 20 pay, not only seems reasonable, but like it's all you could ask for!

Today we learn that Narduzzi reportedly interviewed for the Louisville job...and was not offered. It makes one wonder what he and his agent will cook up for a reason this time, as to why HE "withdrew" his name. Probably it will be something like.... it just wasn't the "perfect opportunity" As was suggested earlier, if you reject too many of these good, but not perfect, opportunities, they may not be extended to you in the future. Looks like Louisville did just that!

That full of guy who was rejected by 2 AAC schools? Barely.
At the time, it seemed to me that both Narduzzi and Diaco were quite similar. But today...man what a difference!!! After hearing one guy making excuses for not moving forward and then the other like there is no challenge he isn't willing to take on...the difference between them now is as wide as the Grand........... Canyon! We're so lucky to have Diaco.

Remember that good recruiters are like good salesmen. Diaco literally sold cars before he started his coaching career. Good salesmen are good at finding other good salesmen.

There is not a doubt in my mind Diaco and company will #uptick our recruiting. It also appears Diaco can teach a defensive unit to be good. If Foley can perform his magic we should be OK.

Still need a strength and conditioning guy. Mike Golden was at UCONN and went with Skippy to SC, EC and USF. He was with Spurrier for awhile too. Ended up at UMASS. Would be a good get.
