In the course of exchanging emails today with Deb Jennings, the sports information director for Tennessee women's basketball, she informed me of something I thought all UConn fans would like to hear.
Apparently, one out of every four cards, letters and emails that Pat Summitt has received since she admitted she's battling early-stage dementia have come from those identifying themsevles at UConn fans.
Coach Summitt and the program have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that has come from UConn nation and Deb wanted you to know that the Lady Vols intend to try and respond to each and every outpouring of good wishes and will.
I applaud those of you among my constituency who have reached out to Coach Summitt. Basketball is basketball, business is business.
But life and compassion for one another is much more important.
