I'd be interested in seeing a plot of dunks vs. season.

Dunks aren't the be-all and end-all, of course, but they're a reasonable proxy for physical dominance of your opponent, getting easy looks in transition, effective halfcourt offense, and offensive rebounding.

Great work! Perfect for a slow morning here at work lol

Curious which team had the most dunks over the past couple of decades... Would love to see this for the 04, 06 & 09 teams!

Just based on the PBPs that are available, here's what you've got from the 2008-09 season to the 2017-18 season:

Man, last year was rough for dunks. Brimah had more dunks by himself his senior year than the entire team last year.

Really hope Mamadou can emerge as a lob target for our guards in the final portion of this season. Feel like we've been missing that badly this year.

Jalen really only had six career dunks coming into this season?
Yeah, that is really a head scratcher considering the Alley-oops he has done. I guess they haven't been as many as I thought.

Where is the next Rudy Gay and Stanley Robinson? I've been waiting for the next Rashad Anderson and Rip Hamilton type as well. Miss those guys.

Jalen could dunk every time he gets in the lane but dunking isn’t cool anymore. I secretly want him to put Tacko on a poster tonight.

Can we tweet this to him?

EDIT: Don't worry, I have already done so.

Interesting story in those data.
- We were clearly less physically imposing in the KO era than the JC era
- Dunks don't always correlate with team quality

We have some mediocre teams that dunked a lot (2010, 2012), some finesse teams that were really good (2011, 2014). But the most dominant team on that list (2009) also dunked the most, and the best team of the last 4 years (2016) was also the one that dunked the most over that period.

Man what a difference Shonn Miller would make on this team.
