It looks like I missed what was potentially UConn baseball's best game of the season. I'm guessing it was the best pitching performance so far this season for UConn baseball.

My wife and I were at UConn for the women's basketball senior day game today, which was on during the baseball game.

-> UConn (2-7) is back to a traditional weekend series this weekend, as they will head to Coral Gables to face Miami (FL). All three games are on ACC Network Extra and first pitch on Friday is at 7 p.m. <-

Through 3 weeks, my impression on the pitching staff. I'll go in the order we saw them this weekend:

Pudvar: Great start. Coming off injury I just hope he isn't over used. We're a long way from June. Want him healthy (Of course - like everyone). Kid battles. Doesn't get flustered. Like what I see.

Suchy: He's going to be good. He's had good flashes. Seems to get settled in after a few batters/inning. Maybe choose different spots for him. But - the experience/exposure WILL pay off. Just not yet.

Shaw III: Been put in a bunch of spots with traffic. Good compsure. Doesn't get flustered. Strike thrower. Has gotten through some, some not. That's baseball. Seems to be a guy they want to bring in more than once on a weekend. Like what I see.

Peters: Haven't seen enough, but like what I see so far. More reps the better, will pay off.

Cooke: Not sure what to say. Firm believer he will right the ship.

Von Emon: Looked better this weekend. If he turns into a pen guy, I still think that makes us strong. The book is certainly not closed. This weekend was a step in the right direction. Going to have ups and downs. Looking forward to the ups.

Abbadessa: See Shaw. I see him being a guy they use more than once on the weekend. 2 good outings this weekend. 8 pitch Saturday helped his availability. Seems comfortable after missing time.

Caruso: First look this weekend. Different delivery. Can see why he may have a day where he doesn't have control. But if he's on, looks challenging to hit.

Ellison: What is there to say after yesterday.

Hutchinson: See Shaw & Abbadessa. He throws strikes he'll be used.

Afthim: See Ellison. Tremendous.

Given his pitching performance so far this season, I would expect that we will see Jude Abbadessa get a good amount of time on the mound for the rest of the season if he keeps it up his performance rate.
