Check John A.'s lbog and story in the Courant.

Today, at noon, on ESPNU Fairfield plays for their league championship. If they win, they are required to play in Bridgeport. This could send Uconn to another area.
If so, I feel sorry for all the Uconn fans who bought tickets for Bridgeport.

I don't understand this. Seems to me that the issues of who plays in NCAA games in Bridgeport and the requirement that Fairfield play there are mutually exclusive. I hope someone can explain this to confused ticketholders like me.

All the NCAA Committee has to do is declare Fairfield a #16 seed and the problem goes away. I'll bet this kind of solution has been resorted to before.

That's right. The problem is: Fairfield is the host, and must play there if they win today. The NCAA, by not making adjustments to keep Uconn in Bridgeport are only hurting themselves by keeping people from buying tickets ahead of time in future years.
(right now, in the first half, Fairfield is down by 10)

I can promise you Fairfield did not sign up to host so that the Stags could have a home tourney game. They were trying to get UConn in the southern part of the state.

All of a sudden, most fans in Connecticut are rooting AGAINST Fairfield. Perverse incentives.
Including a lot folks affiliated with . That's how you know the system is flawed.

Marist is 2-0 against Fairfield so far this season and up 28-17 with not much time in the first half.

On a positive note, I suddenly am very interested in the outcome of the MAAC finals.

30-18 Marist at the half.

Come on Brian Giorgis, you fiendishly clever, overqualified-for-a-mid-major-gig coach, you.

Much ado about little.

The committee can move teams up to 2 lines in terms of seeding for geographic or other considerations. I have no doubt Fairfield's seeding would be moved to arrange a matchup with UConn.

I still think the more interesting issue is what happens if UConn loses to St John's. Or if SJU beats UConn and ND this week. Then,
- Does SJU move to a #1?
- Does SJU get Bridgeport?

As well as the Teddy Bear factory just south of Gettysburg!
Yes, indeed. I have some parishioners who have made trips down to the bear factory.

Problem solved, but it was a bigger issue than some have acknowledged. Yes, the committee can move a team, but only one position. Creme projected Marist as a 13 seed. Fairfield is weaker so wouldn't automatically take that 13th position, but a 13 or a 14, and it can't be done, unless they are a 14 and get moved to a 15, and they move UConn down to a 2 seed. In any event, moot now.

Nope; they can be moved 2 slots.
