Both Kyler Fedko and Chris Winkel have struck out in about half their at bats the first two weekends of this season.. That is certainly not a recipe for offensive baseball success. Both have shown in the past that they are better hitters than that, and the team needs them to return to past form. Also, I'm sure the coaching staff would also say that those two players are also the best defensive outfielders on the team, so a return to their offensive performance of the past would help keep them in the lineup and help out the defense as well.

I was hopeful that the early strikeout woes would be down this year with all the on field batting practice and live hitting. That was always used as, and I hate to say it, an excuse in years pasts and but somewhat rightfully so. It is a much different experience and viewpoint for a hitter who spent the last 3+ months hitting inside a cage with a wall behind the pitcher and then going to a field with an open back drop. Hopefully we start to see those guys tone them down.

From what I understand, Miami (OH) starting pitcher is Sam Bachman, who is likely to go pretty high in the MLB draft. It's probably going to be a tough game today.
