With full knowledge that until the NLI is signed and faxed - it's not a done deal but thought sharing this in the Football Thread (duplicate to the one in Recruting Thread) would be appropriate as we look to the future. Last night he rushed for 396 yards on 26 carries w/ 6 TD in 2 1/2 quarters. Masuk is a Class L school - Ansonia is a Class S school.

Newsome now has career totals of 716 carries for 8,385 yards (11.71 yards per carry). Newsome added to the state records he already owns for career touchdowns (145) and points (900). Newsome has season totals of 106 carries for 1,580 yards and 26 touchdowns. He still has 8 or 9 games left to play this season

The thing that impresses me the most about Newsome is his vision and instincts, he can very quickly adjust his direction and find an alternate path to run. Very much like Terry Caulley and Nick Williams who probably would have been a great RB at UCONN if given the opportunity.

When you watch the little guy run, it looks like he's not even trying against the competition. I mean that in a good way.

It will be interesting to see him up against the speed and size of a division 1 defense.

Or a Tulsa defense or a USF defense or an SMU defense, but any are good since it means he's a Husky.

I actually meant our defense. I wouldn't expect this kid to see the field right away unless it's on kick returns or something. Never know though.

If he was 2" taller he'd have 100 offers. I would like taller WR's but I really dont care about height in a RB. He'll be 190+ come September.

nice...he's definitely a playmaker and I can't wait to see more of him. he kinda reminds me of Steve Slaton.

He's as impressive a rb as has come out of CT in a while. I think he's bigger than Lyle already. Can't wait to see him play for us.

just curious because im not from around here but are high school games usually played on thursday nights? our JV always played thursday and our varsity on friday and sometimes saturdays
