UConn Men's Basketball Pre-Game Reception: UConn vs BYU (Boston, MA)

Same location as 2024, smaller space this year, so not expected to be 'as big' as 2024

I'm on the fence about this. Never been a fan of that location. For anyone who went last year, what exactly do you get for $25 other than the ability to buy beers while surrounded by UConn fans?

For the NCAA Tournament, bars were packed near the Garden, but we went to Big Night Live and we walked right in and got a beer and then walked to the buffet and grabbed some food, I think I had pizza and chicken parm sliders. And, it was a total UConn hype fest that got you in the mood for the games. Highly recommend it.

... after the game, I was right back @ Big Night Live for Nora En Pure!

As an out-of-stater, love the Boston location for our games ... airport a few miles away, and everything from cheap goods, services and eats, 7-Eleven, to a dispensary (puff puff pass), to The Greatest Bar within a few feet of TD Garden

It's probably easier for you to fly there than for me to drive from 30 miles away.

Was in Austin for that game and was a pretty good turnout for the pre-game. Thanks for posting that!

Now Boston - will be with my son, but I think I can get away for a little puff puff and pregame as well!

It’s crazy how much the north station area has changed in even just 10 years

Honestly so much of Boston has changed so fast

Yup. The Seaport itself is basically a new small city. That area has changed the most. It wasn't that long ago the area was a lot of open air parking lots.

North Station has a bunch of new multi-family towers plus the tall office building that has a Verizon sign on it. Remember how seedy Causeway Street used to be?

Not too long ago there used to be only 2 buildings in Boston you could see the tops of from the Mass. Pike coming into Boston around the I-95 interchange, the Prudential Tower and The John Hancock tower (now 200 Clarendon Street). Now there are 6. 2 of them, 1 Dalton Street and Millennium Tower, are hotels/residential. The other 2 are Winthrop Center and the South Station tower (which was just finished this year).

Boston isn't close to New York City. But it's not Hartford either.

Yes, I was at MGM at Fenway last night, drive in through Newton/Brookline. Longwood is unrecognizable and all of the area around Fenway is just so newly developed as well. That area has really become the hot spot for young people, along with the Seaport. It used to be a wasteland more than a block from the park, now it's packed with restaurants and bars and residential.

@HooperScooper my wedding reception was at the World Trade Center in Southie in 2001. From our ballroom we had an uninterrupted view of the Skyline. Ned Johnson started it all with the Seaport Hotel, then the convention center came in. Frank McCourt owned almost all those parking lots, when he failed to buy the Sox and build a stadium on the seaport, he sold it all and bought the LA Dodgers. Then the new Seaport was off an running.

I hate all the new skyscrapers. Boston is and was best when trying to build more like European cities. I find the Seaport a little soulless and lacking in character, but certainly nice. Now there's the new monstrosity going up over South Station.

This sold me on it, thanks man. Do you enter the game directly from the event? That would be a huge bonus if you can.

Any chance they had Trillium on draft? Lol

No. It’s a couple of blocks away. Trillium is really only on tap at Trillium.

Oh contraire. I've had Trillium at 2 places in the last week. I've been noticing that Trillium beers are available at more places these days. But in general you're right that Trillium beers are not readily available at most bars and restaurants.

Last Friday at a place near you, https://www.theshedfranklin.com/menu-2#menu=beer-menu, I had Melcher Street IPA. They have a rotating Trillium tap.

Last night at https://www.obtavern.com/sudbury-menus I had Congress Street IPA.
