UCONN was subtly featured on the latest episode of "Your Friends & Neighbors", a new show on Apple TV with a cast including Jon Hamm, Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn, etc. Anyway, one of the subplots includes a successful and recently retired NBA player whose mansion includes a basketball court and trophy room with his championship paraphernalia. A couple scenes show his court which has the UCONN logo (and the Spurs), presumably the two teams he played for. Always good to see our reputation getting national attention....and a long way from the Cheers episode where Norm called us the "Fighting Insurance Salesman", lol.

My favorite Cheers episode. Norm makes that reference to our football team because Rebecca Howe graduated from UConn, where she had a reputation as quite the party girl, known as "Back Seat Becky"!

It is hard for younger people, to realize what a great show Cheers was- after finishing in last place season 1 they were #1 for what 9-10 years. It seemed like everyone, young, old and in between all watched Cheers and when it went off the air, that was the beginning of the end for the Sitcom IMO…

Remember early on I think it was Thursday nights starting at 8pm on NBC was The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court. Was a great two hours of television especially since we only had like 9 channels in my house, so it was something to look forward to each week.

I was a kid back then but I remember cheers well. I also remember the night of cheers‘s last episode probably 1993 ? was the same -Thursday night-“must see tv on nbc” Santa Clara with steve Nash played Arizona and Lute Olsen in an NCAA tournament game. I could be wrong though vague, vague memory of that

UConn is a semi-regular on Jeopardy and crossword puzzles these days.
So is Syracuse - "Which overpriced and overrated, second tier private university from an upstate New York rust belt city is a member of the ACC?

How was Night Court a Cheers spinoff? I thought that was debunked and NC was just another OG show on NBC?
