Crazy to think how this team underperformed early that an at large bid is even under consideration. For those of us who are faint of heart, let's just win the auto bid .

Yeah, I have been thinking for the last several games that if UConn baseball keeps winning a lot more than they lose that they could become a candidate for an at large bid for the NCAA Tournament.

I'm still not convinced this team is as good as any of the UConn teams we've become used to seeing, but the schedule really really eases up after this weekend, and if we can find a way to claw our way to 3 out of the next 4, winning more than two thirds of the remaining games is not going to look like a herculean task.

The next five days are critical.

We'll see if UConn baseball can get their RPI to keep rising into the 30's or 40's. If they do they could have a chance at an at large bid. Yes, the weekend series against Georgetown is pretty big, UConn really needs to take that series. They do need to win the vast majority of their remaining games.

Van Emon becoming a midweek starter?

Top 2nd, a 1 out double for Minick, but he is stranded. 2-0 UConn.

Bottom 2nd, after 2 out, 2 runners reach base on a single and a walk. Another single drives in a run and puts runners on the corners. 2-1 UConn. Another single drives in another run to tie the game at 2, the batter advances to 2B on the throw from the outfield. Van Emon gets a strikeout to end the inning with the game tied at 2.

This link should work if you want to watch.

UConn @ BC

Top 3rd, UConn offense leaves a runner at 2B. Game tied at 2.

Ellisen coming in to pitch.

Bottom 3rd, BC gets 2 runners on base with 1 out. A 1 out RBI single gives BC a 3-2 lead. With 2 out Ellisen gives up a walk to load the bases. A bunt brings in 2 runs, 5-2 BC. Ellisen walked 2 batters that inning.

Top 4th, UConn offense goes down in order. 5-2 BC.

Cinnella replaces Ellisen on the mound.

Bottom 4th, a no out single followed by a double brings in another run, 6-2 BC. A 1 out RBI single makes it 7-2 BC. A double play ends the inning.

Not very pretty today. Nice broadcast on ACC+, however.

Top 5th, with runners at 1st and 2nd, Padilla is thrown out trying to steal 2B for the 2nd out while Shpur steals 3B. A scoreless inning for the UConn offense. 7-2 BC.

Pitchers we just expected to be better this season have not come through. Ellison case in point.

Problem this year for UConn has been a lack of quality pitching depth, that's for sure. If pitchers such as Ellisen had evolved into better players, this would not be as much of a problem.

Bottom 5th, after getting the 1st out on a ground out, Cinnella comes out of the game, Alejandro takes the mound.

Alejandro leaves a runner at 2B after a 2 out double. 7-2 BC.
