Interesting, Conte is the starting pitcher in the game today, he has not been in any games yet this season for UConn. I will say that Conte did very well coming out of the bullpen for the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures League last summer. Of course, the Futures League is a bit of a introductory summer league when compared to other summer leagues.

Chris Jones says Daniels is sick today, which is why he is not in the lineup.

Connor Lane also played in Norwich last summer, so he caught Conte quite a bit last summer.
 
Not a great start for Conte, seems like a tough game to get his feet wet. I assume Schild is still recovering from injury. And Van Emon appears to be in the doghouse

Bottom 1st, Conte hits the leadoff batter and walks the next batter, a sac bunt for the 1st out moves both runners into scoring position. A 1 out single drives in 2 runs, game tied at 2.
 
Kind of scary that this is the best we can do on the mound right now. It seems like he is throwing BP. But wild.
 
Just saw a curveball that looked like it came from a high school game. Fastball looks like he’s just winding up and throwing it wherever. I’m sure he’s a great kid. Apologies for being so negative . But man this ain’t the huskies we’ve been watching for the past decade.

Top 3rd, Minick leads off with a double, with 1 out Biller is hit by a pitch. Padilla follows with a 1 out single that drives in a run, 4-3 UConn.

With 2 outs Root drives in a run with a single, runners are on the corners. 5-3 UConn.

Lane follows with a double driving in 2 runs, 7-3 UConn.

Rispoli gets a single driving in another run, 8-3 UConn going to the bottom of the inning.

My goodness, every time we score our pitching gives it right back. I believe we are really to going to need to hit the portal hard for pitching
 
Whatever Shaw had 2 weeks ago, he has lost. It is frustrating when you have 2 constants in Pudvar and Atfthim and who knows what you get game to game with anyone else on the mound.

Seems that UConn baseball is always hitting the transfer portal every season. With the roster limits decreasing next season, it will be interesting to see what happens this off season.
 
Top 4th, with no outs, the UConn offense loads the bases with 2 walks and a hit by pitch. Padilla follows with a no out double that drives in 3 runs, Padilla winds up at 3B. 11-6 UConn.

MacArthur follows with a no out walk. Root follows with a no out bunt single that brings in a run, 12-6 UConn.

Lane follows with a no out 3 run homer, 15-6 UConn.
