I will be making the trip with fam. Huge game for us! Lets go HuskiesYeah, I’m going and I’m looking forward to it. This is a big game for us, regardless of BC having an off year.
Yeah but you actually have to draw eyeballs in that market. No one cares about BC these days. UConn basketball draws better in Boston than BC ever could, and we had a much better showing at the Fenway Bowl.Yet, all the B1G has added is teams in big markets. Rutgers, Maryland, UCLA, Washington and a growing market in Oregon. SC brought the best of both worlds. B1G can add teams at reduced payouts. Both Oregon and Washington are at 50% shares. College football is competing with the NFL and the B1G if they expand want teams in big markets. Boston is the capital of New England.
Was thinking the same thing. Like how good must their line rate on passing plays for them to actually grade out as the 4th best line? It must be legendarily good lolSeems crazy. BC is ranked 133/136 in rushing offense averaging 85 ypg at 3.11 yards/carry.
Does markets even matter anymore when the majority of sports are going to streaming apps that are available to everyone? I feel like the only criteria moving forward is how popular nationally.Exactly. Brands not markets.
Stanford is one of the most powerful universities in the world. If they want to flex their muscles they could get in. BC doesn’t have that kind of juice.
Not looking to turn this into a uniform or attendance thread, but any idea on what kits the team is wearing tomorrow? Would be nice to have some color coordination for a strong UConn fan showing tomorrow
I believe you can watch it on ESPN+ if you have ACCN on your cable plan, but I could be wrong. Is this viewable on ESPN+ or just Acc network? I don’t want to get Acc network until UConn joins. Until then that network is forsaken to me.
You have to look at college football programs as properties. BC is an undervalued property that the B1G can buy at a reasonable price. BC has a big upside being located in a huge sports tv market. Their TV ratings are not bad for an underperforming team. Georgia Tech is a comparable property that the B1G can pick up as well. By contrast, FSU and Clemson will be very expensive properties to buy that the top B1G teams will not want to share revenue equally with and that the bottom half of teams will not want to compete with.Yeah but you actually have to draw eyeballs in that market. No one cares about BC these days. UConn basketball draws better in Boston than BC ever could, and we had a much better showing at the Fenway Bowl.
UConn isn’t going to get P2 consideration, but thinking BC has a chance is laughable
That must have been last season.Seems crazy. BC is ranked 133/136 in rushing offense averaging 85 ypg at 3.11 yards/carry.
Remember half of those scholarships go to women. If you look at what is allowed for scholarships in each sport, BC would need to give out 400 scholarships. You are wrong. They give out scholarships in most if not all varsity sports although some can be partial scholarships. Their fundraising arm (Flynn Fund) says they give out 272 full scholarships and over 350 total scholarships.
It’s a huge game for us for Pride. Win or lose our program is not going to change, but at least we can claim a New England Championship!Yeah, I’m going and I’m looking forward to it. This is a big game for us, regardless of BC having an off year.
i'm heading out right now to game because of exactly what you're alerting to in this post. It's a big game. It’s a huge game for us for Pride. Win or lose our program is not going to change, but at least we can claim a New England Championship!
The reason there are cheap tickets is the team is 1-5. Clemson and ND fans reselling tickets are just meeting the market where it’s at. BC has a bad record and a fan base of punks. The reason there are cheap tickets is that Clemson and Notre Dame fans as well as scalpers bought season tickets and are now selling the UConn tickets. Great opportunity for UConn fans to buy cheap tickets.
The B1G already has Rutgers for a northeast doormat, those top B1G teams you mention sure aren’t about to share their money with anotherYou have to look at college football programs as properties. Those are old maximum allowable numbers pre House settlement. Now schools can offer scholarships to every player on a roster up to the new roster size limit - Football is now @105, MBB @15, MHOC @26 and Baseball @34.Remember half of those scholarships go to women. If you look at what is allowed for scholarships in each sport, BC would need to give out 400 scholarships.
85 football
13 men’s basketball
18 men’s hockey
12 baseball
Total is 128 x 2 women = 256 that leaves 16 scholarships to get to 272 and only 8 left for all of their other men’s sports.
