No UConn or BC involvement in the bet placed on the game.

“Of note, Hennen showed off a $57,500 bet placed at BetMGM’s Mirage Las Vegas Casino for UConn to cover as a 14.5-point underdog (-110) in football against Boston College on Oct. 28.

The Huskies covered in a 21-14 loss.”

Point shaving requires player involvement, usually on the favored team. BC has a sorrid history of this. If another scandal can be proven, it should be grounds for the death penalty.

I went to one of the basketball games that they "threw". In the first half, BC played so poorly that it was almost very obvious. In the 2nd half, they made a great comeback and then UConn took off after they got close.

Though if you want scandals, the UVM 1999 hockey team is an old favorite

Hazing scandal. Not point shaving. Does hazing still go on? I have got no data, but I would be the farm on it. I would also be that it is very very common.

I remember that situation very clearly. Clarkson had started off slowly in the season but found their groove. UVM cancelled their season which left Clarkson with two open dates just when they were playing well. Quinnipiac was dying to play established teams so when Mark Morris called, Rand Pecknold quickly agreed to play in Northford, CT. Clarkson won, but it was close for a bit. My son (a soccer player) was going to Quinnipiac at the time, and there were plenty of Clarkson fans there too. I had driven down from Schenectady to see it. It was viewed as a chance by the MAAC/AHA to show the big boys that they could play too. Despite the loss, it had its desired effect.

Some may call them rivals. Others may call them evil enemies. Don't get me wrong as I do follow UConn hockey, but in the real world of conference realignment it is meaningless and I suspect not many people would care of which conference UConn Hockey is a member. Screw BC, always.

It will be interesting to see how many nonP4 schools opt in. I think there is tremendous resentment around hockey that a few football schools can dictate to the majority.

Clarkson is in Potsdam near Canada, about 3-4 hours up the northway from Schenectady, where Union College is.

Nope. They are our natural rivals. And they got UConn into Hockey East.

UConn's fanbase has an unnatural willingness to attach a value to sports who have no impact on conference realignment or the overall health of the UConn Athletic Dept.

Oh, it absolutely does. Some places have probably just gotten better/smarter about how they do it.
