Schedule Change: The Huskies game vs. @HartfordBASE on Wednesday, April 5th has been moved to Dunkin' Donuts Park at 7:05 p.m.
So UConn will play @ DD park before the yard goats do? 1st home game for the YG is on the 13th.
Yes, UConn will play the inaugural game at Dunkin Donuts Park.
The Hartford Yard Goats' first home game is scheduled for April 13, but it appears the stadium will be ready well in advance of that.
UConn has announced a baseball schedule change on its web site. The Huskies' game vs. the University of Hartford on April 5 has been moved to Dunkin' Donuts Park. The game is at 7:05 p.m.
THis probably deserves its own thread as soem folks may want to attend for both Huskies and historic reasons.
This Tweet from UConn Baseball has disappeared. The UConn baseball schedule still currently shows the game to be played in Storrs.
The Hartford Courant has an updated story on their website saying the announcement was premature and that talks are in progress.
"There is a possibility that the UConn-Harford baseball game scheduled for April 5 could be played in Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford.
If so, it would be the first game played there. UConn announced the schedule change prematurely on its website Tuesday morning, also sending out a tweet. The Yard Goats never made an announcement and so far there is no agreement.
"We are in talks with the Yard Goats, but nothing is official," UConn spokesman Mike Enright said."
Of course... LOL.
nbc30 news @ 6 talked about UConn playing @ the dunk on the 5th...
Is UMass-Lowell going to be remotely competent? If their team is anything like last year, we should take 3 from them for sure.
Also, I tried looking for a Texas baseball message board and somehow came up empty. Not sure how this is possible but perhaps Garrido really killed interest in that program...I anticipate the Tulane coach to turn them around quickly.
A Penders lead UConn baseball team has never opened the season with a multi game series against a northeastern school. For many seasons they midwestern teams from the Big Ten or southern teams on their home field were the usual bill of fare for opening weekend. Considering UConn on opening weekend often play like they haven't seen or been on an outdoor field for a couple of months, playing against another team with the same problem might not be a bad idea. However, playing a team like UMass Lowell for multiple games is not going to do wonders for UConn's RPI in the long run even if it does get them three or four wins to start the season.
As for Texas, one odd thing about the schedule posted on their website is that with a bit over a month before the start of the season, no starting times are listed for any of their games. I would have thought that for a program like Texas that this would have been done by now.
