BC is probably the worst Gameday experience in the country and the worst party school in the country.

You haven't been to Rice, a school of 4,000 playing in a 72,000 seat stadium. And with its majors concentrated in the applied sciences, computer science and economics, it's not exactly Ole Miss.

Yes it would be great but even with an on campus location (there isn't one) major upgrades to state roads, taking private property, and a limited water supply makes an on campus stadium impossible.

All three are owned by UConn and none would require the taking of private land. In addition there is also the Depot campus which is just off the main campus. It also is owned by UConn.

Now, I've heard Mansfield didn't want a stadium in town and they were going to sue the state because of traffic and quality of life issues.

Yeah this my take, too. UConn football doesn't have a location problem for it's field, or if they do, it is distant 2nd place to the 1st place problem which is showing a football product the last 10 years that sucks beyond belief.

That stadium looks smaller than that to me. Maybe 40K-45K?

Fully agree. The Rent is a great place to see a game and a great tailgating venue. At this point, the on campus stadium discussion is largely pointless. Still, when someone alleges that there isn't room for a stadium on campus, they are wrong.

Only thing the Rent is good for is a bunch of old Boneyard farts who would hate driving to Storrs. Wait…….maybe you’re on to something, let’s move all the men’s and women’s home basketball games to the Civic Center. Packed to the gills every night. Recruiting would explode, the players and coaches would love it, and any Boneyarders who live within 20 miles of Hartford would have just a short drive to the games. We could bus all the students in too.

The Rent being full is not the point. Say Gampel was never built and all the men’s and women’s basketball home games were at the Civic Center to save money. Civic Center packed every night. Students bused to Hartford every game. Lol. Would the those programs still have had the success that they have had. Apply that to football and think about it.

Why so small? because those old farts (the people who contribute heavily to the Uconn funds) would not support a 12000 + stadium in storrs. It was dsesigned to expand to over 10000 . two there is no free lunch. someone has to pay the bill for the operation of the AD. It will be students, taxpayers or wealthy doners. but someone has to pay. the student wants it to be part of the free stuff but someone pays

Other issue is the state didn’t want Gampel to be as big as the civic center

The Rent is the very least of our problems, if a problem at all. If we want to fill 40,000 seats, then putting the stadium up in Storrs basically cuts off half the state from easy access. While I’d prefer on campus, it probably isn’t ideal from maximizing the draw.
