UConn at Cincinnati Replay

When we play a clunker, you seem to get far fewer likes. ;)

I’m in warm Cabo, so I missed the game, and WatchESPN doesn’t work here. Even when we “suck” (Geno’s term), I appreciate your efforts.

Not necessarily a "clunker." UConn, particularly KLS and Collier, mugged throughout game. KLS must have multiple bruises on both arms from 40 minutes of being held. ONO did OK-if Williams will not shoot, might as well start ONO for defense. Cinn. shot outstanding-any team that shoots that well will keep it close. Great coaching job by Cinn staff. UConn's zone defense horrendous-not sure who is the assistant coach responsible for teaching but they should get resume out.

It is not the UCONN zone or the teachers it is the personnel specifically the bench. For the last two games Louisville and Cincinnati the first UCONN sub into the game has caused Geno to switch from man to man into a zone defense . For the Louisville game that player was ONO and for the Cincinnati game that player was Kyla. The Louisville game was especially puzzling because UCONN had Durr pretty much bottled up using a man to man defense in entire 1st quarter when she was 0-4. Durr exploited the UCONN zone in the 2nd quarter to get herself going. Just don't think UCONN has players good enough to execute a zone and be effective. Another "smaller" limitation literally is the press used in the Cincinnati game. Before the sub Napheesa was at the top of the press. When Kyla came into the game Crystal was put at the top of the press. Crystal is obviously easier to pass over than Napheesa.

Is "Fifth Third Arena" an oxymoron? It it 1.67 arenas?
A bank.

Did UConn go zone or box and one on Durr in the Louisville game

From Wiki

The name "Fifth Third" is derived from the names of both of the bank's two predecessor companies, Third National Bank and Fifth National Bank, which merged in 1908.

I would have called it the Fourth National Bank but that is just me. ;)

Well if there was a 5th, there was probably already a 4th.:cool:

If it were the Third Fifth, that would explain it--after 3 bottles of booze, in their drunken stupor, the banks' presidents decided to merge.
