The middle of your Big East season is a bit different than her middle of SEC play. She could end up with a month facing UConn, SCar, Texas and another ranked SEC opponent consecutively . I doubt she would take that chance. Expect a Nov - Dec meeting.I am very surprised Kim has agreed to it.
I know nothing about the details here. But I hope it is in January or February in the middle of big east play.
I wonder if nobody wanted/could to do a home-and-home, so they opted for a one-off at a neutral site? Why Nashville?
My. Question is whether this could be an NIL game?I wonder if nobody wanted/could to do a home-and-home, so they opted for a one-off at a neutral site?
How about winner take all?My. Question is whether this could be an NIL game?
Look at the Player’s era tournament. There, the tournament agreed to pay the players NIL of about million per team to be distributed to the players. I agree that this smells like direct pay from the schools but it’s not. It’s being treated as 3rd party pay to the players!
If somebody can run this for players on four teams, why not 2? I promoter in Nashville offers a million to UConn players and a million ti LSUs players. This doesn’t count against LSU’s direct pay limit of about million (6.% of 21.5 million). It allows them to basically double their direct pay.
I can see a case where the winner gets more but both team will get a payout. Also incentives matchups like this for teams to participate imoHow about winner take all?
Kim played UConn several times when she was at BaylorPerhaps my feelings about LSU and their milk toast schedule is stronger than some, but I will not believe Kim will schedule UConn until they are much weaker than today's lineup.
Maybe part of some type of mini-tournament with two other teams?I wonder if nobody wanted/could to do a home-and-home, so they opted for a one-off at a neutral site?

3 with griner, 3 withoutWhen she had griner, correct?
I’m pretty confident it wasn’t Geno who didn’t want the home and home, if indeed there was such an offer.🙄I wonder if nobody wanted/could to do a home-and-home, so they opted for a one-off at a neutral site?
it would get great ratings.......I can see a case where the winner gets more but both team will get a payout. Also incentives matchups like this for teams to participate imo
Well, what makes it challenging is predicting who is going to be a top 10 team sometimes 2 years in the future. Now with unrestricted free agency with the top talent possibly gong to the top $$$, it's not easy knowing and scheduling the top teams. Injuries and early exits don't help either.Great news! I hope we schedule more top 10 teams for OOC play.
SEC vs Big East?Perhaps my feelings about LSU and their milk toast schedule is stronger than some, but I will not believe Kim will schedule UConn until they are much weaker than today's lineup.
Nice. That’s great news having this game added to the schedule. Hmm. I wonder if fans living in Tennessee are really going to be impartial?I wonder if nobody wanted/could to do a home-and-home, so they opted for a one-off at a neutral site?
While we will never fully know what Geno's and KIm's relationship is and what drove the scheduling of this game, curious why LSU is changing its tactics of scheduling cupcakes, an approach Geno strongly disagrees with. Of all the Top 10 teams he could play, I would not have thought LSU was not a team he would show any support for.
HopJim, your last sentence confuses me. Could you repeat your thought but say it differently, please and thank you? While we will never fully know what Geno's and KIm's relationship is and what drove the scheduling of this game, curious why LSU is changing its tactics of scheduling cupcakes, an approach Geno strongly disagrees with. One additional reason is $$$. UConn OOC games against ranked teams typically end up on national broadcast networks which pay considerably more than local or regional coverage.Geno generally schedules OOC for three reasons: (1) schedule ranked teams to improve the team's strength of schedule (given the rest of the Big East's usually lower rankings), (2) play games in geographic areas so recruits can see the UConn brand near them, and (3) play games close to home towns of existing players so that their friends and families can more easily see them play. If UConn is to play LSU in Nashville, I suspect that this would be part of some multi-team tournament hosted by Shea's Vanderbilt team and such a game would accomplish (1) and (2) above.
That's a good point. We don't know when this game is yet (AFAIK). Maybe as some have speculated it's Thanksgiving weekend instead of a destination tournament. Geno's said that for cost reasons, those may be a thing of the past, and so scheduling something with reduced costs and a large payout would be a way to compensate. One additional reason is $$$.
