The heat staff may just favor cole. they have a history of being stubborn, an example would be benching michael beasley the entire season and then throwing him into the fire vs SAS late in the Finals. As of right now, Bazz just needs to play out of his mind whenever he garners an opportunity . He is pretty much stuck until a change at head coach or a trade

They can be stubborn, but Michael Beasley is no example of that. Beasley is just a bum that they threw out there at the end when nothing else worked. I still think the Heat is hoping that Cole can show something to make him worth trading for any sort of big body with a pulse. If he doesn't, then he will be gone and Bazz will take over for him.

I love Lamb, but if he's not playing minutes over guys like Morrow, Roberson, and Ish Smith, it's hard to blame the coaches. It isn't like he has some sort of vendetta against him. Lamb has had plenty of opportunities and he just hasn't been quite good enough.

Agreed that I'd love to see him in Charlotte. The one thing you can say about his development since his rookie year is that he's much better as a passer and in pick-and-rolls. With Durant and Westbrook on the roster, and even a guy like Jackson, there are only so many chances for him to showcase those skills.

Jeremy Lamb needs to get as far away from Scott Brooks as possible. I really don't understand what OKC is doing. Brooks is trying to prove a point, OKC without Durant keeps losing games, and Lamb gets a DNP. Stop holding him hostage and trade the kid. Please.
Scottie Brooks is a scared awful coach...playing Derek Fisher the ENTIRE 2nd half of game 7 vs Spurs is all you need to know about the guy...played not to lose. Fisher had nothing to offer on offensive end, was his D really that great? Lamb has never really gotten a chance and will never get a chance...not an all-star but easily could put up 15 a night.

Kemba with a 19-point 3rd quarter (26 total thru 3), but it isn't helping much. Still down 14 to Orlando. He made 6 shots in a row before missing a tough 3 at the buzzer. He's 10-18 from the floor through 3, bouncing back from a rough day vs Westbrook yesterday.

Kemba is in January 2011 mode. Shooting almost every possession and making about half. Now has a career high 36 with 7 to go.

Edit: 38 with 2:55 left. Now 13-24 from the floor. Didn't come out in 2H and has taken a bit of a breather the last few minutes. Has seven assists, so he's a couple good passes and a bucket away from maybe a 40-10 night.

Kemba finishes with 42 points, shot 15-31, with 7 assists and 2 turnovers. He chucked his brains out in the second half (35 points in second half on 22 shots). There was no way that assist total was getting last 7 - hopefully next game he'll work on those. Today he wasn't pretending to be a point guard, Charlotte was down 10 the whole second half and he was trying to will his team back. Had a late three rattle out that would have cut the Orlando lead to 3 and given him 45. His third quarter was a thing of beauty (19 on 7-9 shooting, with one of the misses sort of a prayer at the buzzer). The 13 shots in the fourth were maybe overdoing it a little (although 5 were in the last minute). Orlando has good defensive guards too (Oladipo and Payton).

Most of his third quarter buckets came on the step back type 18 footers that we know well. He was getting switches and attacking Tobias Harris or Nikola Vucevic, and put a nice step back move on Payton (the rookie who gave him problems last time). He stayed in to start the fourth instead of the usual substitution for Roberts and Charlotte's offense bogged down a bit - the ball kept coming back to him late in the shot clock, so he had a sequence of difficult shot attempts in the last couple seconds. He made a 28-foot three on one of them. When the starters came back in, he rested a bit, but then took 7 shots in the last 3 minutes - two on one possession (back rimmed a runner and forced up a put back after the offensive rebound, a bad air ball). Then I think he took five shots in the last minute - three drives (blew one easy one, and made two tough ones) and missed two threes. Jefferson also was called for basket interference on a shot that might have crawled in for Kemba (Jefferson was forgotten about a little until the very end).

Worth watching the replay (of the second half) for those with League Pass. Ben had a nice day with 11 - and a couple tough threes too.

Rudy with 15 in the first quarter against the Knicks on 6-8 shooting. That means UConn has 50 in the last 3 quarters, counting Kemba's 35 point second half (and conveniently ignoring Ben).

I know Rudy has hit a lot of clutch end of game jumpers in his career, but I don't get going Iso for him at the end of this Knicks game when you got a bear like Cousins to go to in the post.

Cousins had bungled up the previous couple of possessions. It's also sometimes just simply easier to allow a perimeter guy to control the ball and time his move, rather than trying to feed the post at the right moment. Rudy just didn't do a very good job - went to his move too soon and didn't really beat Melo. It looked like maybe Melo got wrist on the reach in, but Rudy didn't argue much, so it was probably clean.

In OT, they obviously spent the whole 5 minutes milking Cousins, so in hindsight, they maybe should have ignored the previous couple of bad possessions and lived and died with the ball in his hands. NYK didn't have anyone who could match up with him.

Rudys had a very good stint with the Kings so far. Too bad Cousins got injured and missed so many games they could have had a shot at the playoffs. It will be tough with the stacked West to make up games now. Still they might be able to pick up a decent three or four to play next to Rudy in the draft lottery, or some depth. They have four solid starters and a few utility players but lack real depth.

Sacramento's best bet will probably be to package Stauskas and their fist round daft pick and try to get another piece. I'd be interested in seeing how somebody like Monroe would fit in there.

Don't really seeing Monroe being a good fit, they need a defender and/or rim protector/shotblocker next to Cousins in the worst way, its crazy how long Jason Thompson has managed to hold down a starting spot while being completely mediocre. Not sure where Willy Cauly-Stein ultimately ends up in the draft but I know it will be somewhere in the lottery, he'd be a good pick for them. If we're talking current players I think even a bit guy like John Henson in Milwaukee could help for his shotblocking.

I can't imagine Monroe would be a good fit. He's not really going to stretch the floor and he clogs the paint for Cousins. Kevin Love would be nice, but unrealistic.

A stretch four or a 3-D three would fit well.

Collison
McLemore
Gay or 3-D three
Gay or stretch four
Cousins

That would be what I would target at least.

I think you're correct, and I suspect they'll take a long, hard look at Kaminsky or -- if he comes out early -- Lyles (who doesn't have that range yet, but is young and loaded with potential).

Ideally they'd have a couple of shooters to put with Rudy, DMC & Collison. It looks like McLemore could be one, and this draft is where they'll be able to target a second.

Andre in the Pistons have been looking a lot better without Josh Smith in their first two games. Team had season highs in points and are 2-0. They're 6 1/2 games back from the 8th seed so a playoff appearance might not be out of the question.

I have collison in my fantasy league, so I'm all about him and how well he's done for me with a late round pick, but they could use a better starting PG there. With Rudy and Boogie, they could use a star distributor rather than a guy who can actually put some points up in collison

With the way their offense goes through Cousins and Gay I'm not sure they need a better facilitator as a starter at PG. They need a better backup backcourt though, maybe Staukas could be one piece next year if he can improve as much as McClemore has. Maybe draft Tyus Jones or Mudiay if they get a lottery pick. Then try and find a starting forward in free agency.

stopped watching the Heat after Bazz got iced but just looking at the boxscore, Spo played only 8 guys in a December game against the Magic, with both Bazz and Ennis getting DNPs and Norris Cole playing 35(!) minutes. WTF is going on down there?

yea that was during his run of dbl figure scoring games. how do you only play 3 guys at 2 positions and 8 guys in a December regular season game when you have your whole squad? sh t is crazy.

saw an interesting correspondence on twitter with skolnick that beat writer, when asked if there is 'any solution to the pg position in (miami)' he tweeted :

Ethan J. Skolnick ✔ @EthanJSkolnick
@tgstayhungry Napier, maybe. I heard they want him to be more serious.

when asked again he said

Ethan J. Skolnick ✔ @EthanJSkolnick
@KurtCobae I've heard they want Napier to earn his time a little more. Still digging on what happened

strange, sounds like bs

They want Bazz to be more serious? If anything Bazz is too serious and he expects every teammate to have his same preparation and serious approach to the game. What's going on in Miami makes no sense.

Drummond with 17 points and 22 rebounds through 3 quarters, he is beasting lately.

Since the Josh Smith removal the Pistons are 3-0 beating Orlando, Cleveland and Indiana, look efficient on offense. Drummond has averaged 17.7 and 15 in that time. He was only 5-16 from the FT line today though. He could easily have had 20-20 game if he could hit over 50%.

5-16 at the line and didn't play a second in the 4th quarter, he could have gone for a 30 30 game.

Can't find anything official, but the Heat message board is reporting that Bazz has been sent to the D-League again. Lot's of wild speculation about the reasons, mostly because he's "lazy". Lazy?! I'm not buying it.
Heat TeamTalk

There is some crazy stuff going on down in Miami, the notion that Bazz is lazy and doesn't take the game seriously enough is just ridiculous.
