UConn Alum Maurice Lloyd named head football coach @ CREC Coop

Loved Mo Lloyd. Actually got to talk about him once to lawyers from Saskatoon who were on the other side of the deal.

Not to belittle anyone, but what &&& is a CREC?

Capitol Region Education Council. They operate, among other things, several magnet schools in and around Hartford.

Actually 18 magnet schools. Practically a parallel system to Hartford's failed disaster of a public system (yes, I work for CREC, though not at any of the magnet schools). Congrats to Mo Lloyd and welcome to the CREC family. Proud to have former Husky stand out with us at CREC.

Football: CREC hires Bloomfield assistant, former UConn standout Moe Lloyd as next coach - GameTime CT

>>A native of Dayton Beach, Florida, Lloyd was a four-year starter at linebacker for Randy Edsall UConn from 2001-2004. He led the Huskies in tackles in his junior and senior years and was an All-Big East linebacker for the 2004 Motor City Bowl championship team.

His 412 tackles rank fourth, all-time, among UConn’s career leaders since 1978. He is also second, all-time, in tackles for a loss (47.5).

Lloyd went on play six years in the Canadian Football League and was a CFL All-Star for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2008. He was also a Western Conference All-Star twice. Lloyd helped lead the Roughriders to the 2007 Grey Cup championship.<<

I believe Charles Okwandu, former MBB letterman and member of the 2011 National Championship team, is the head basketball coach at Two Rivers. Nice to see CREC giving some former Huskies a chance to make a difference with local kids.
