UConn -6 @ ECU | The Boneyard

UConn -6 @ ECU

Sadly gonna be a close one. We’re awful on the road (1-7) and with the Houston game coming up this has trap game written all over it. Not to mention we’re only gonna have 2 bench players and Gardner is a PROBLEM. Gonna have to play a really solid game to win this one

Worried about this one now that we're down Sid. Carlton has been averaging .29 fouls per minute played and .18 turnovers per minute played in the 3 games since Akok got hurt. No matter how bad of a team we are playing we can't be effectively limited to Whaley + 5 guards. Really hoping he's competent as opposed to pathetic today. We need him.

.-.
I can't wait until we have a legit road schedule. Big East road trips will be fun. I'm not venturing to Greenville.

ECU has played teams tough at home. Don’t think this will be the cake walk everyone assumes.

Their recent home games:
- beat Temple 67-63
- lost to Cincy 70-67
- lost to UCF 68-64
- lost to Houston 69-59
- beat Tulane 81-62

We should beat them, but only Houston (which is 8 points better than us by Kenpom) beat them by 6 or more. The spread is reasonable.

I predict that if we lose, it will be due to foul trouble. It doesn't take a genius coach to tell his players, "Attack their big men on every play, try to draw fouls."

And their stud Gardner draws a ton of fouls to begin with.

Thankfully seems Hurley is already ahead of this with his talk of going zone. ECU can't shoot 3s for shit.

I’m teasing the points and the over just to have some skin on it, but I don’t like -6.

probably going to have to play zone when teams have bad shooting lineups in just to spare our only 2 bigs.

I put a half unit on ECU +200 money line separately and a full unit on the over. I think we should win, but there's definitely a scenario of "adversity just caught up to us on the road where we aren't good to begin with." that I think is probably closer to 50% than 33%.

In this one do what you do best theñ stop Gardner that's all you can do . Don't play scared too much is a stake.

As long as they don't do what Temple did and flop wildly in the first minute.

That's exactly what I was going to say. ECU pushed Cincy to OT on this court, they beat SMU and Temple on this court. I love the heart and toughness UConn plays with and would love it if UConn does have an easy win. But let's not pretend this team is good enough that we can see an opponent and say "let's chalk this up as an easy win".
Any win is a good win for this UConn team.

I say we win by 17

They will be on fire from 3 today! They are playing us. Isn’t that what always happens?

I guess none of those game were "legit."
