It's never a good sign when it's 13+ minutes between your posts. Having just put on ESPN+, I can see why. 😞
 
Top 6th, after a 2 out double by Minick and a walk by Marshall, the UConn offense has a scoreless inning. 5-3 BC.
 
Bottom 6th, after a 1 out single with the runner stealing 2B with 2 outs, Gilchrist has a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts. 5-3 BC.
 
Top 7th, leading off the inning Wachter and Dalena both draw walks, a sac bunt by Rispoli for the 1st out moves both runners into scoring position, A ground out by Jemison for the 2nd out moves both runners up a base bringing in a run. 5-4 BC.

Polemeni reaches 1B on an error which brings in a run. Game tied at 5.

Gilchrist comes out of the game, Shaw takes the mound.

Shaw hits the 1st batter he faces, the runner moves to 2B on a sac bunt for the 1st out, the runner steals 3B, Shaw hits the next batter and walks a batter to load the bases with 1 out, a fielders choice ground out for the 2nd out brings in a run and puts runners on the corners. 8-5 BC.

Shaw walks the next batter loading the bases again. Shaw comes out of the game, Smith takes the mound.

Smith gets a ground out to end the inning. 8-5 BC.

After that walk to load the bases, I'd take him out if the bullpen is ready.

I was thinking he was uncharacteristically wild, but hope he's okay as he seems to keep flexing his shoulders. I believe we had another boneheaded defensive play. Why would Shaw just not go home, get the sure out, save a run and then catcher maybe turn the DP

Because it was an easy 1-6-3 or 1-4-3 double play, except one of Rispoli or Jameson didn’t know the other was covering the base on a ground ball up the middle. Terrible mental mistake.
 
It’s win big east or bust…has been for awhile now. Regardless season has been a disappointment since anytime there is a good test, this team comes up short. Flawed roster that we have to hope can do enough to get have a chance at the postseason

It’s really more than that if we are being honest. The last 2 years are really the first years across all of the NCAA where you can see whose putting their money where their mouth is (NIL) and who can walk and chew gum at the same time (transfer portal, roster construction). The fact we put our 2 worst teams in a while on the field those years tells me we are struggling to do one or both.

I was at every home game of the 2024 team. The talent of an Erik Stock or Ben Huber and the overall team was evident. The lack of talent on this team is clearly evident.

All I know is that we are now regularly losing to Boston College in this sport and that pisses me off.

I think this was the case. Maybe jemison/rispoli still working on communication/chemistry, i don't know, but it was a DP served up..... that wasn't.
 
Watching Duke BC. BC is pretty good. Probably better than 24. Gallo is killing them.
