UConn 2026 Outbound Portal Transfers (*No transfer speculation until announced/posted*)

It doesn't appear that Candle is making much of an effort to retain our players in the portal. Only Tucker and Hicks have come back, backups at best. This may be his philosophy, if you aren't sure you want to be here then you are dead to me. Values loyalty. Could explain why he rarely lost a lot of Toledo players to the portal.
it will be weird rooting for a team with minimal player retention. I can’t recall this ever happened before but these are uncharted waters with coaching change combined with NIL and portal.

Hate losing Rosa and Neider, don't blame them for going. Seems like we are bringing in a lot at WR to compete with Neider, and Rosa was probably looking for a fresh start. Still think Rosa could have been a hero in the CAA but don't blame him for taking the bag.

I know we are going through the tumult and turnover now, but Candle is known for keeping his guys. There will always be portaling but once we get through this the water should be calmer for the next few years...

Yes, it will be. This season is exaserpated by the coaching change, but the overall turnover of college rosters in general is going to impact fan interest and loyalty.

Interestingly, last night I believe they stated that Oregons number three RB did not play in the CFP opting to go into the portal and not play. Oregon got thumped, but that ended up being a big hit to their chances given their injuries at that position. I think it's only a matter of time before we see players opting out of the CFP unless there are financial incentives to play.

I doubt Ohio University is spending much on paying players given their athletic budget is around $35 million per year which is about what Rhode Island is spending.

I wouldn’t be so sure, from what I’ve heard we’ve definitely tried hard to keep guys in the portal. But almost all of our guys have ended up at P4s so far. We have so many holes and roster spots to fill that I think it’s difficult for us to allocate too much NIL money into matching the offers our guys are getting from P4 schools

I would think Rosa wants to play, can’t fault hm for that. He suited up for every game, which you can’t say about everyone on the team.

It’s really intriguing to me that a ton of these incoming portal players have a ton of eligibility left and little game experience. Hoping they can perform and excel quickly.

Another great stat project, try to correlate success at UConn with prior game experience. I’ve looked at it as a plus, in that Candle et al are confident and committed to their developmental abilities/ philosophy. Your concern about fewer plug and play guys may be well founded. We’ll know in 10 months or so
