Seems right, keep playing our game.

Will look at team total over again.

Need Karaban to get his outside shot going. His cold outside shooting was noticeable. No issue today, but we'll need those shots at some point. To his credit, he realized it early and found other ways to score and help in other ways.

Has UConn ever played Northwestern in men's hoops? I go back over 40 years and can't recall. Anyone?

Doesn't look like the two programs have ever met (though they are 2-0 vs CCSU)

I’m trusting our defense here and going with NW total under at 60.5.

They didn’t score that against FAU in regulation and our defense is even better.

I feel like margin may dictate their pace.

If we're up by 12, they can't afford to plod along and use the whole shot clock.

Our defense has also sometimes been lacking against good-but-not-great competition (e.g. St. John's).

I could see that for sure. My hope is that St John’s had a 3rd game against us advantage and Castle can shutdown Buie, their main scorer.

Last year only 2 teams scored over 60 on us in the tournament too. Hoping for another run like that in this tourney lol

I see NW has a Kenpom top 40 offense too though.

Northwestern gets a lot of points from drives and kicks. Our scheme does a good job of not over helping. We're going to make them take mid-range and dribble jumpers over Castle, Newton, and Clingan. Their bigs didn't do much.

If Buie goes supernova, they can get 60, but they're going to have to earn it.

No snark here, just a question:

For them to get to 60 what would Buie need, 35?

Shut down Buie, or limit him. They play six deep and cannot match clingan inside.

Their second or third guy is great in the mid-range, which is usually something you want to allow, but could keep them in it even if our defense is doing what it's "supposed to," i.e. denying 3s and layups.
