UConn’s Randy Edsall among FBS coaches most likely to succeed (Ralph Russo AP)

According to that list, he's the 4th most likely to succeed in the AAC East division, behind Cincy, Temple and USF. But then again I guess 'succeed' is open to interpretation.

Why not just pick the top 50? Is anyone left who is not likely to be successful?

It's a list of everyone new to their job ranked.

The article actually says the opposite. That Edsall isn't likely to succeed realtive to the class of coaches.

He's behind Lane Kiffin on the list. You need to know anything else?

Yes - terrible headline writing indeed.

I like Randy ahead of Collins, Samford, Kiffen and Applewhite, so that puts him at 9 I suppose in my book. I dont have much faith that all eight ahead of Randy are assured to at least have 500, or just over 500 winning percentage. I probably should put Randy above Taggert too.

There will be a couple busts on this list, at least a couple from the so called top 10 who just dont pan out.

Switching gears, who resigns, leaves or is fired first on this list? Kiffen and....then Orgeron?

Wow. That was awful. So middle of the pack to lower among all the new FBS coaches somehow translates to "most likely to succeed in FBS"?

It really wasn't a ranking. More like a comment on each of the new coaches and the likelihood of success. FWIW I am skeptical about Herman and I honestly think Rhule made a really awful choice. Baylor is going to be a very difficult place for a few years.

Kiffin won't last more than three years. He was the OC of a perennial national championship team and couldn't land a better gig than FAU. Tells you all you need to know

Worse headline ever. Based on the actual article, it seems RE is more likely to fail than to succeed.

I think Edsall will be successful.
Kiffin will likely do well enough to move in 3 years but will leave behind a mess. Rhule is in an impossible situation I think. It will be tough to do anything there and he will get the blame for not cheating. Herman I can see wearing thin very quickly. I can see him going 9-3 but losing to West Viginia or someone every year. He took over a good team at Houston and had 1 very good year and 1 solid year. Not like he built a team from 2-10 to a powerhouse.
