...rumored that Kevin Ollie is a top candidate for the job

*someone whispers into my ear* Oh wait...just kidding, this isn't the football board.

Actually I would love for UCLA to offer 'California' Ollie a head coaching job. It would give him an opportunity to tell the west coast and the nation why UConn is the best and better program over the storied UCLA program. With Ollie's mannerism it would be a sphisticated and subliminal diss, but actually a very public humiliation of a legendary program.

Don't mess with his ten toes or you will get stomped with both feet!

Seriously though here are my top choices for the next UCLA coach:
1. Brad Stevens (sucks for the C7!)
2. Shaka Smart
3. Buzz Williams

UCLA is probably the worst big time job out there. Fan base has unrealistic goals. Howland had some bad breaks there, but he's a real good coach.

I think the expectations ruined him. He took a lot of kids that he couldn't control--and let them run all over him.

And yet UCLA "denies reports"....Why would they even acknowledge the report? It looks like the firing is going to happen. So now, when they "officially" announce it tomorrow or Tuesday, how stupid will the school look?..."well yes it has happened, but over the weekend, when the report broke, we hadn't finished all the paperwork"...

They should just hire Bill Walton, so we can be just as outspoken about his coaching abilities. He'd be a personal punching bag for the media & deservedly so...

It would be kind of interesting if UCLA goes with Josh Pastner. Memphis currently has the #2 recruiting class in the country

They need to go after someone established, in my opinion. Even Howland had only two good years at Pitt before they snatched him up.

Outside of K, Pitino, Boeheim, Calipari, Self, Crean, Roy, Izzo, they should probably be looking at everyone else in the country.

under the radar name that has come up, Tad Boyle of Colorado, has recruited the west coast well in addition to winning at CU. Not really sure about Stevens, maybe his system and style changes with better athletes and recruits but part of the reason for the lack of enthusiasm and support from the the UCLA fanbase is because of how ugly Howland ball is, do they really want to go down a similar road with Stevens?

If I was making decisions at USC or UCLA I would at least ask
Avery Johnson if he was interested in a college head coaching job.
He might be sick of coaching pro's and he played in the NBA for 16 yrs after going
Undrafted. Plus he won a ring and was coach of the year. Pro guys don't go to college to
Often but he should get a call. He could be KO with a better resume.

I think they need someone like Shaka, personally. His kind of basketball would energize the fan base and put people in the seats at the new Pauley. That's a huge factor considering they haven't seen an increase in attendance as a result of the renovation.

Johnson is the BB equivalent of Herm Edwards. The ability to give good quote masked that fact that they were lousy coaches.
