19-16 UCLA with 4:54 remaining and that score seems little to do with defense. Poor shot selection, easy misses, unforced turnovers, sloppy and lazy passing, and bonehead plays, all at a fast pace. Today would have been a good day to play SC. Most of Dawn's players today look as if they've never been introduced to each other. UCLA looks little better.

At the seven-minute mark in the 2nd, SCAR had eight points. They then hit a three and have scored more since.

SCAR has missed a lot of shots close in. UCLA has missed almost everything.

SCAR's offensive rebounding beginning to make a difference.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, it's against two NFL games, so no one will notice. I'm just so surprised that USC's 2 bigs aren't imposing their will more often. They're effectively neutralized by the Bruins's bigs.

As a big it is your duty to abuse your smaller opponent. To impose your will over the person next to you. Get into position, seal your opponent, box out. Plant yourself on the block and be that immovable object. It should never be a battle of athleticism. It just seems when the light shines brightest, SC's big's blink.

It was an ugly, scratchy first half, yuck. Both teams shooting under 30% from the floor and a combined 11-of-23 from the foul line. UCLA was called for 15 fouls in the half.

It feels like Billings was the only player who had a good half. She already has a double-double (10 and 10). Her athleticism is off the charts. Now if she could only learn to pass from the high position.
