Where are you getting this stat? That doesn't match my memory.

That wasn't quite accurate. UCF has NEVER played UCONN closely in Storrs until the 2019-20 season.

Looking at the UCF media guide...

It shows UCF lost to UCONN, 59-52, on January 16, 2020 at home, and 66-53 in Storrs, on February 22nd.

That must have been what was meant at the UCF press conference.

All other games with UCONN in the previous few years had been blowout affairs, with the closest margin of victory 18 points.

I should have done my research first before posting. That'll teach me to trust the media!

This is UCF’s most complete team of Coach Abe’s tenure by far. Unfortunately for UCF I think this UCONN team is much better and deeper than the one they played in UCONN’s last year in the American when they managed to keep the score relatively close. I think the only chance UCF has is if their role players step up and make some uncharacteristic perimeter shots. As a UCF fan I don’t think we have enough firepower offensively to come out on top in this one but who knows. This has been a weird year and this UCF team hasn’t lost a game by more than 8 points. Those two 8 point losses were to Tennessee in November when UCF was a lot more offensively challenged and at Iowa (without Brittney Smith).

UCF played well today but 2 things to keep in mind, Florida lost their best player and this UConn team is very much as physical as UCF is if it comes to that. This team is hardened due to the trials and hardships they have encountered and endured this year. They have an edge to them that other teams of the past few years did not have and tomorrow will be a good test of that mettle with this former league foe.
