The refs are finally calling the fouls on UCF. Maybe someone talked to them about the excessive physical play.

UCF had a 15 point lead in 1st half and 11 at half time. Then just laid an egg through the 3rd quarter.

This result likely ensures that the AAC will be a one-bid league this year. UCF was on the bubble but I don’t see them getting a bid after this loss. Cincinnati is in the conversation but doesn’t have much of a resume either, aside from two wins over UCF.

UConn could stick it to the committee by losing . No one else's losses matter so this shouldn't either! Guarantees 2 in tourney ;).

This turned into an interesting game to watch. I was rooting for Cincy all the way and thought they were dead for sure by halftime. Then the third quarter turned things around big-time. I just have no love for the way UCF plays, and it sure was nice to see a few of those fouls finally get called.

I just looked at the box score and yikes, UCF committed 22 Fouls, had 20 turnovers and only 8 assists. KayKay was 4/17 from the floor.
To be honest, I am sort of glad UCF is projected to miss the NCAAT as I find Coach Abe’s style ugly and dangerous. As Geno mentioned during the Stewie years, basketball with free movement is a beautiful game so the Refs need to clamp down on the excessive physicality.

So much happier playing Cincy than UCF just from an injury standpoint.

I don't think Geno or any of his players are saddened that they don't have to play UCF anymore. It was the general consensus that UCF would meet UConn in the championship game one more time. Who knew?
This was a very costly loss for the Knights. Not only did the loss knock them out of the conference tournament, it also knocked them out of consideration for an "at large" bid in the NCAA tournament.

Just to refresh everyone's memory, in their last meeting, UConn defeated Cincy by 47 points, 105-58 on Feb 26 (see below). I look for UConn to play the same kind of "in your face/in your jersey" defense as they have the last two games. They should closeout AAC play with a resounding win tomorrow night. Then we can say goodbye AAC, hello BIG East. :) Tomorrow night's game will conclude UConn's "farewell tour" of the AAC.

I was in the arena, and I promised myself that I would stay as long as the game remained competitive. I stayed until about the midway point in the second quarter, when UCF's lead was in the mid-teens. Cincinnati seemed totally flustered by the UCF zone defense, while UCF was having relatively little trouble with the Bearcats' zone. So, I kept my promise to myself, got a bad burger at the casino, and then drove home.

I was totally surprised when I tuned into the Oregon-Stanford game (which makes UConn's 18-point loss to the Ducks look respectable) and heard that Cincinnati had come back to beat UCF. The third quarter was 18-3 in favor of Cincinnati. Did anyone actually watch the game and see what happened? How did Cincinnati solve the zone. How did they shut down UCF's offense?

Is there a link somewhere to this game? I think it would be more interesting to watch than UConn's game against USF.

You should have played a few hands of blackjack and then checked back on the game.

I am watching the next opponent and have to admit I am rooting for Cinncy. Why? Because I feel UCF's style could result in another injury UConn doesn't need. And as a bonus there is extra incentive to win big :D.
I was rooting for Cinci for the exact same reason.... no need to see those thugs for a third time

As Joe noted, 18-3 score in Q3. Yikes! Eric, his family, and I went to dinner, not wanting to watch another half of UCF thug ball. Surprise! Cincy wins! Holy carp!

Well, I went out after our game for a drink and a bite to eat. A little gambling too - actually won $20! Then returned to the arena for the second half. Don’t know what happened in the first half to create the UCF lead, but Cincinnati dominated for much of the second half. As I walked in to the arena for the 2nd half, Jamelle was just ahead of me. Wondered what her emotions might be. Most of her recruits helped the Bearcats win. We’re they good this year because they matured and we’re finally healthy? Or was the new coach just better? No idea, but glad they won and we don’t have to face UCF again.
