Your observations regarding guard domination of the game are fair butI don't believe WBB was implying that MR should have to rely on boards for scoring but rather dominate the boards more for rebounds and in the process gain additional points that way. In the transition to the college game points of entry passes will not necessarily come as easy off of entry passes given the greater size and athleticism found throughout WCBB and the biggest challenge for bigs is often learning to assert their will on a game wherever that is possible. That was the greatest growth in Tina Charles game at UConn and despite her greatness it was until the NCAA tournament her Jr year that she really understood what that meant and she carried it forward through her senior year and into the WNBA and Euro play.
WBB saying that MR didn't impress her as a #1 ranked player is criticism by someone who has watched a ton of WCBB and is not a huge slam just a critical eye. Clearly, MR is a 5 star player but her class has a number of players who might well qualify as #1. Where ever she plays MR will have the opportunity to be an impact player. Her question should be what coaching staff is best equipped to bring that out of her by pushing her to her present limits and beyond.
I expect that you are right in saying if MR was coming to UConn she would be more celebrated on a UConn fan board but that is just the nature of fan boards. One thing that would happen at UConn is she would have great guards for those entry passes you desire AND she would end up with some of the very best preparation for playing post in the WNBA available and for life, as well.
